Lesson: Challenge 1

Challenge: Create a generative type body for additional support.


 Upload the file C03-W3-LC-01.f3d.
 Create a new sketch on the front plane.
 Create a sketch intersection with the inside shape of the bracket.
 Create a layout sketch.
 Create subdivided pipes.
 Combine the bodies.

Step 1: Create a generative type structure


1. Upload and open the file C03-W3-
LC-01.f3d.

2. Create a new sketch on the front plane


and select Sketch > Project / Include >
Intersect.

3. Select all the internal faces on the


bracket to create a curve.

4. Model the lins as shown using midpoint


constraints to snap to surrounding
geometry.

Note: There are a total of 8 lines.

5. Select Create Form to enter the Sculpt workspace
and select Create > Pipe.

6. Select all the lines and create a 2mm


diameter pipe structure with square
ends.

7. Select Modify > Edit Form.

8. Box select the entire subdivided pipe


structure and set the transform type
to Scale.

Note: Scale is on the default manipulator but


changing to scale only makes the selection
easier.

9. Scale the pipe in the Z
direction 3.5.

10. Finish form, combine the solid


bodies and save the file.
