1. INFORMATION ABOUT PROJECT
- Project of Hanoi - Lang Son Expressway in the development
planning of technical infrastructure to serve the economic development of the
country, plays an important role in the transport network connectivity between
the northeastern provinces with national, economic trade with China. Strategic
position in security and defense, protecting the sovereignty of the country.
- Project is invested by Vietnam Expressway Corporation
(VEC) from KM1+800÷KM45+100.
2. LEGAL BASES
- Construction Law No. 50/2014/QH11 dated 1th January, 2015;
- Decree No. 59/2015/NĐ-CP date 18/06/2015 management of
investment projects on the construction of works of the Government, and
modification, supplementary on Decree No. 83/2009/NĐ-CP date 15/10/2009
of Government; Decree No. 112/2009/NĐ-CP date 14/12/2009 management of
work construction investment expenses;
- Decision No. 1734/QĐ-TTg date 01/12/2008 approved
planning the development of expressway network Vietnam 2020, orientation
after 2020 of the Prime Minister;
- The letter No. 1926/VPCP-QHQT date 24/3/2014
implemented investment Hanoi - Lang Son expressway of Office of the
Premier; No. 2167/TTg-KTN date 30/10/2014 investment Hanoi - Lang Son
expressway, section Bac Giang – Lang Son in the form of BOT of the Premier;
- The letter date 27/22/2014 and date 12/01/2015
implementation detail design for Ha Noi – Lang Son expressway of ADB bank;
- Decision No. 888/QĐ-BGTVT date 4/4/2008 convert the
Client of Ha Noi – Lang Son expressway of Minister of Transport;
- Decision No. 05/QĐ-BGTVT date 02/01/2013 approved the
list of standards application for Ha Noi – Lang Son expressway of Minister of
Transport;
- Decision No. 113/QĐ- BGTVT ngày 10/01/2014 approved
upgrading NH1 section Hanoi - Bac Giang project in the form of BOT of
Minister of Transport;

- Decision No. 175/QĐ-BGTVT date 19/01/2012 approved
scope of works for Survey, Design and Cost Estimate for Ha Noi – Lang Son
expressway investment contruction project of Minister of Transport;
- Decision No. 1459/QĐ-BGTVT date 30/05/2013 approved
additional scope of works for Survey, Design and Cost Estimate for Ha Noi –
Lang Son expressway investment contruction project of Minister of Transport;
- Decision No. 312/QĐ-VEC date 9/7/2013 approved TOR and
temporary Cost Estimate of Survey, Detail Design stage for Ha Noi – Lang Son
expressway investment contruction project of VEC;
- Decision No. 827/QĐ-BGTVT date 12/03/2015 approved
Basic Design for Bac Giang – Lang Son expressway investment contruction
project, section Km1+800 – Km45+100 of Minister of Transport;
- Decision No. 1383/QĐ-BTNMT date 24/8/2012 approved
reports on environmental impact assessment of investment Hanoi - Lang Son
expressway project of Ministry of Natural Resouces and Environment;
- Consulting services contract No 12/HĐTV-VEC/2015 ngày
21/4/2015 between Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) and Joint Venture
of Katahira & Engineers International (KEI) and SAMBO and E&R;
- Applied standards and specifications.
3. PURPOSE, REQUIREMENT OF DESIGN CEMENT
TREATED AGGREGATE
3.1. Purpose
- In order to make the mixing ratio of materials to form cement
treated aggregate to ensure most reasonable, economic requirements, specifications
of the project.
3.2. Requirement
- Choosing reasonable materials, ensuring the best quality,
stability supplying and ability to control the quality.

- Giving a optimal use rate, meets the technical requirements of
projects and cost savings.
- Ensuring good workability, easily applied in field conditions.
4. DESIGN CEMENT TREATED AGGREGATE
4.1. Selecting materials sourse
- To ensure that the management of construction quality, ensure
stability during the construction. Selection of materials sourse is very important,
a direct impact on the quality and progress during entire project.
4.1.1. Selecting cement sourse
- Recommend using local cement PCB40 Dong Banh, because:
 The intensity and high early strength: meet the current trend of early
strength, such as speeding, early dismantling formwork, prestressed
structures must stretch - cable is cut soon, ...
 Reduce the cost of construction: Cement is produced locally, factory near the
highway passes through. Therefore, reducing transportation costs, meet the
construction schedule of the project as well as to limit the accumulation and
preservation of cement at the construction site.

4.1.2. Selecting aggregate sourse
- Stone served for the project was obtained from 2 quarries Sao
Mai and Giang Son. Through tests assessing the quality of the stone 2 quarries
shows:

5. TESTING PROCESS OF QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF
CEMENT TREATED AGGREGATE
Step 1: Checking aggregate Dmax 25mm arcocding to TCVN 8859:2011,
cement arcocding to TCVN 6260:2009.
Step 2: Test determine kmax, Wo of aggregate sample Dmax 25mm according
to 22TCN 333:06 (according to method II-D).
Step 3: Casting and maintaining aggregate samples Dmax 25mm aggregate
sample Dmax 25mm according to Article 4.7.2 of TCVN 8858:2011.

Step 4: Determining compressive strength of cement treated aggregate at 14

TCVN 3118:1993.
Step 5: Determining splitting tensile strength of cement treated aggregate at
