Introduction

What is water hyacinth

Water hyacinth is an aquatic native Amazon basin, and is often a highly

problematic invasive species outside its native range. (Encyclopedia)

this study aims to furthermore investigate the effectivity of water hyacinth as

alternative to charcoal. It is already stated that the rapid growth and the

excessive amount of water hyacinth on bodies of water can cause problems to

livelihood, community, health and even in the environment. By this study, the

researchers want to expand the existing knowledge about the water hyacinth in

order to find ways how we can reduce or control its effects. This could help cities

affected by the existing problems bring by water hyacinth. To prove the capacity

of the researchers in making an experiment, which turning water hyacinth to

charcoal as a medium of fire that could be a product for business. Turning a

'waste or a pest' to a benefiting material could save livelihood and reduce risk to

people.

Conceptual Framework

The focus of this study was undertaken by the following conceptual framework

shown in figure1 which has a three part process: the input, process and output.

Figure 1. Conceptual Framework

The type of framework used in our research shows the process of converting

water hyacinth to an alternative charcoal. This Frame shows the input, process

and the output. Input contains the necessary materials to test our study, process

contains the necessary steps to perform, while the output shows our final product

and our proven study. All this conceptual paradigm traces the required actions

that can be used to justify and test our proposed idea and study.

Statement of the Problems

This study aims to demonstrate that water hyacinth known as Eichhornia

Crassipes can be used as a renewable source of fire and can also be an

alternative to charcoal. Especially this study was intended to address

question such as:

Page

How effective is water hyacinth charcoal? Is there a significant difference

between water hyacinth charcoal and a normal charcoal? How will the

invasive problem of water hyacinth waste n our area diminish? How

effective is water hyacinth charcoal in terms of producing fire? How many

water hyacinth charcoals will be consumed to cook an egg? And what

process will be practiced to make fire successfully?

Our goal is to provide and present another way to reduce water hyacinth

waste not only in the city of Taguig but throughout our country and with

that, we had the idea of giving a simple but useful way to reduce some of

our environmental problems since most Filipinos like to use charcoal

made from wood for chooking because its price is much cheaper than

LPG or liquefied petroleum gas.

The researchers wanted to impose another proven renewable source of

fire that will really help us. Our group not only wants to help those in need,

but also to offer an experience that changes their lives and that not only

benefits them, but everyone and especially our mother earth.

This research is conducted to to find out if carbonized water

hyacinth can really be a source of fire. This research will benefit the

following

Students- This research can also help them recognize new things, use this

as an idea to guide them when they do this type of research, and can also

use this as their source of information if they plan to do research that is

somehow related to this study.

Parents- this charcoal made up from water hyacinth can be used as an

alternative source of fire when parents do not have enough budget to buy

LPG and kerosene. It will lead them to save money and be more

ecological.

Environment- This experimental research can help to lessen…

Community – This research can help inform the community about benefits

of water hyacinth, it will reflect a great contribution, especially if the plant is

present in the community itself. . They can use it to provide another

source of fire to families who do not have enough money to provide their

own LPG.

Future Researchers- This

researcher to be more innovative and carry out the programs of the Department

of Education (DepEd) that will be beneficial both learners and teachers .

Future Researchers: They should conduct a study on the advantages of K-12 in

St. Chamuel College Taguig Branch after implementation of the program .
