War vs. how the American textbooks present the Mexican American War
-Realize that the Mexican textbooks interpret the Mexican American War a very
different way American textbooks see the war.

What were the different causes of the Mexican American War?
Essential Question(s): -What were the different factors that led the United States to win the Mexican
American War?
How did the Mexicans feel about the Americans wanting to take part of their
territory?

Students will read chapter 11 of History Lessons and Chapter 29d. of

American History: From Pre-Columbian to the New Millennium in
Procedure (40 minutes): Time: 5 min
order for them to see the differences on how both USA and
Mexican textbooks interpret the Mexican American War

Students will get on groups of no more than 5 people and will then
create a Twitter post, either from the American side or the Mexican Time: 5 min
side, on their thoughts about the Mexican American War.

Students will share with the rest class their twitter post and will
make a quick comment on what their group thought about today’s Time: 5 min
lesson.
 In a sheet of paper, each student will write a short paragraph about
how they thought the Mexican textbook presented the Mexican
Assessment: Time: 5 min
American War and something they found interesting or something
new they learned about the Mexican American War.
