Parts of Speech:
Definitions
• NOUN: A word that names a person, place,
thing, or idea.
• Verb: A word that expresses action, being
or condition.
• Adjective: A word that modifies / adds
meaning / describes a noun or a pronoun.
• Adverb: A word that modifies / adds
meaning / describes a verb, an adjective or
another verb.

• Preposition: A word that shows
relationship between its objects and some
other word in the sentence.
• Conjunction: A word that joins words,
phrases, or clauses.
• Interjection: A word that shows surprise
