1) Reliability improvement of the 24V power supply in order to avoid solenoid valve
cut-offs

PCB INDEX concerned by this modification : EVERY PCB with IND<6

Approximately products manufactured before end of July 2005 (serial numbers inferior to 05.07.99999)

1 – We add a 100 Ω resistance (1W) at the terminals of

the transmitters of Q23_3 and Q23_5, as shown
opposite.

2 – Fix a 1000uF 35V (63365)

capacitor at the back of the PCB
next to the connection of the electro
valve, as shown opposite; in order to
obtain 2000µf between these 2
points.

3 Cathode of
the LED

Change. 4

3 – Add parallel to the D10_10 LED a BYD22D LED (64257) .

4 – Replace the capacitor C10_02 by a traditional capacitor 220µF 35V (63463).

5 – Make a connection test at 230V, ONLY the fan must start to run.

2) Disturbance of the anti-sticking

PCB INDEX concerned by this modification : EVERY PCB with IND<6

Approximately products manufactured before end of July 2005 (serial numbers inferior to 05.07.99999)

Approximately, this corresponds to products manufactured before end of July 2005 (serial numbers less than
05.07.99999).

In order to avoid any disturbances at the triggering of

the anti-sticking, a traditional capacity must be added,
as shown opposite (pin 7 of U24_1 and capacitor
C24_3).

3) Hot Start Issues

PCB INDEX concerned by this modification : EVERY PCB IND 8

Approximately products manufactured between January 2006 and end of August 2006 (serial numbers
between 06.01.00000 and 06.08.99999)

On products manufactured with a PCB index 8, the Ignition current of the Hot start function was too important, and
could generate a breakdown of the product. These products have approximately been manufactured between
01/01/2006 and end of August 2006 (serial numbers between 06.01.00000 and 06.08.99999).

On this PCB index, it is recommended to

remove transistor Q09_3 in order to
deactivate the hot start function, and limit
the Ignition current.

4) Anti-sticking issues

PCB INDEX concerned by this modification : EVERY PCB index 8 to 9.7 included.
Approximately products manufactured between January 2006 and end of May 2007 (serial numbers
between 06.01.00000 and 07.05.99999)

Anti-sticking issues have been observed on products manufactured at this period. The following update is
recommended in order to solve these problems.

If malfunction of the anti-

sticking is observed, add a 22K
resistor at position R06_3, as
shown on the photograph.

5) Failures of diode STTH12R06G on the IMS module

PCB INDEX concerned by this modification : EVERY PCB with index 8 to 9.1 included.
Approximately products manufactured between January 2006 and end of March 2007 (serial numbers
between 06.01.00000 and 07.03.99999)

The following update is recommended in order to prevent the failures of diodes STTH12R06G on the IMS module
of TIG 160HF product.

The arrow points towards the

STTH12R06G diode.

In order to check whether this diode is in

short circuit, the resistance between the 2
red dots should be measured.

Apply the following update in order to prevent this failure :

Remove R30_18, and replace R30_17

(1 K) by a resistor 1K3 (ref. 64032).

The following update can also be applied to bring extra protection for diode STTH1206CG in order to
reduce the risk of failure.

Connect on the main electronic board a MUR460 (63304) diode and a lug for M5 screw (55022) as shown below.

4 3
Connect the anode of the diode between row 3
and 4 of pins on the SMI connector. Connect
the cathode to the screw as shown on the
1 photograph left.

Beware not to have electrical

contact between the lug and the
capacitor nearby
