ACTIVITY DESIGN

Project Title : FIELD RESEARCH FOR BUTTERFLY ECOLOGICAL GARDEN AND TRIBAL
VILLAGE STRUCTURAL DESIGNS

Pamulaan Center for Indigenous Peoples Education, Davao City
Target Participants : City ENR Officer, Environmental Planner, Draftsman and Research Staffs
Period of Implementation: June 29-30, 2017

RATIONALE:
The local government of Tagum through the Office of the City ENR and City Tribal is planning to establish a
“BUTTERFLY ECOLOGICAL GARDEN AND TRIBAL VILLAGE” to be located at Tagum Botanical Park in Barangay
San Agustin, this city.
The butterfly garden is an area specifically intended for the breeding and display of various kinds of butterflies
with emphasis on education, as well as to attract tourists and make them aware of the importance of butterflies in the
environment. Meanwhile, with the aim of instilling cultural sensitivity toward people, a tribal village for Mansaka and
Mandaya Tribe is envisaged to preserve their remaining traits and trades and by its Cultural shows; visitors will get a rare
chance to interact with these native people that still holds pure bloodline. It will also showcase their way of hunting,
survival, daily life and even the way of hanging out, and the hand-made crafts and souvenirs crafted by local village folks.
Thus, a “Field Research on Butterfly Eco-Garden and Tribal Village Structural Designs” shall be
undertaken to acquire technical knowledge and expertise to effectively set out strategic plans and implement appropriate
designs and structures linked to the eco-tourism development, cultural awareness and management of these proposed
projects.

OBJECTIVE/S OF THE ACTIVITY:


1. To promote ecological and cultural awareness to the public.
2. To increase tourism development in Tagum City.

METHODOLOGIES:
1. Coordinate with the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP)-Mintal Campus Administration-PAMULAAN
Centre for IP Education, the Management of Crocodile and Eden Natures Park Butterfly Garden.
2. Coordinate with City Mayor for the approval of the activity and City Budget Office for the budget allocation;
3. Replicate appropriate plans and designs.

BUDGETARY REQUIREMENTS: P 17, 920.00


 Travel Expenses (8 pax x Php 1,120.00/head x 2 days) = Php 17, 920.00

EXPECTED OUTPUTS:
1. Raise awareness especially to the young people on the importance of protecting and conserving our living
organisms and tribal culture.
2. Provide additional livelihood and income to Mansaka and Mandaya Tribes and to local government.
