a. Why is art universal?
For me, art has no true definition. The act of creating are is simple and unique.
Landscapers, architects, scientists, and teachers, to name a few, are all artist. They take an
idea in their mind and apply it to a “canvas” for others to enjoy. The universal aspect stems
from your culture and your environment being used as influences and inspiration. The fact
that they are different is part of what makes them art.

Art is universal for some people, if a work of art

can evoke someone’s emotional response from them it
is doing the job well. The best art it is makes us happy or
feel enjoyment, it is convenient and inspires us. Some
art, such as illustration, tells a story or shows you
fantastic places or people. Some art has a specific style
that appeals to certain groups of people. And then
you’ve got decades of various attempts to come up with
original movements in art. Art and the value of it is in the
eye of the beholder. Some art we don’t even recognize
as art. Art is everywhere, we look. It’s on the signs we
read, on the clothing we wear, on the packages of
everything we buy, on the building as we drive past, in
the shape and design of the vehicles we drive. From
sculpture, architecture, to photography, and much more.
Art is far richer, and far more powerful then we give
credit for. The more deeply you examine it, the more you
find is still there.

b. Why art is not nature?

Not all art is nature, but nature is an art. There are many ways to approach the
subject of nature in art. Art can open our eyes to the intricacy and beauty of the natural
world. It can simply be a pretty picture that appreciates nature for what it is... or it can be
a challenging piece expressing our complex human connection to nature. Art can serve
a purpose beyond being an object of beauty: it can also address pressing environmental
issues and topics about conservation, sustainability, preservation, biodiversity, and
threatened habitats. Art can interact with and educate the viewer about these issues,
spreading awareness about such important topics. We feel an instinctual need to take
care of the things we feel connected to. Art can help renew, or spark anew, our
connection with nature.

c. Why does art demand involvement?

Art demand involvement because it needs to be appreciated. Art is everywhere
When you look at an art or a masterpiece it reminds you of something and sometimes
bring up old memories or it makes you imagine something and in that way the viewer or
onlooker is already involved in that art.
d. Video Reflection: What artform or artwork has change something in your life?
Why?
What is the purpose of art in this society if some people only appreciate and
understand what is being communicated through a work of art. Lourd wasn't trying to
make a point. There is no critique. It's just a bunch of thoughts sewn together just to
intrigue the viewers and ask a question, as with most of his old stuff. This isn't being full
of himself and preachy as much as it is being laidback and restrained. People look at
this from the wrong perspective. Lourd is also an artist, he doesn’t criticize the work of
an artist. His point is that is there an art that can help our society even in a small way.
Music is one of the artworks that has change something in my life it affects my
mood at any time I’m sad and happy it changes also the way I perceive the world.
When it leaves you in the intense silence. Music transcends us to the present,
to the spaces between the noise, it makes the silence utterly encapsulating. It
teaches us to value silence and crave the peace of the present. Music
teaches us to listen without judgement and engage with the silence, not avoid
and fear it. Music shows us that we really do only have one mouth but two
ears, and it opens us up to the beauty of the silence and the skill of listening.

Why do you assume that art should be art?
I think the advantage of listening to art critics once in
a while is that they often have sharp insights into what
this thing called art is that we have so much interest in
–an interest which they also share– but which is so
often obscured by their over active interest in jargon,
crackpot social theories, and, of course, the
eccentricities of individual artists.
Why do you assume that serious art, which is
applauded by millions of people, has more
significance or greater value than a cheerful squiggle
which only you seem to appreciate?
Why do you assume that art is something that can be
defined?
I came to this thought: Everything is art, and nothing
is art because art is what we chose to call art. The
stuff of great paintings appears in our everyday world,
but we don’t recognize it because it doesn’t have a
frame around it. If we would only observe more
carefully the events and objects of everyday life and
have the expectation of art, like we do when we enter
a gallery or open an art book, we would be confronted
with so much art that even closing our eyes would not
stop this river of art. And then art would be a label that
we would apply to nothing because it will have
become as meaningless and trivial as labeling every
tree in a forest. And the term, artist, would be equally
meaningless because everyone who can see would
be some sort of artist with a vast collection of work in
their memory cells.
Another thought: Why do you assume that popularity
is the ultimate indicator of good art when it has
already so often conflicted with your own tastes in art?
Why do we assume a blog posting has to have a
coherent theme and a logical ending?
Assumptions of arts 1. Art is universal Timeless,
spanning generations and continents through and
through. Misconception: Artistic made long time ago.
Age is not a factor in determining art. “Art is not good
because it is old, but old because it is beautiful.”
(Dudley, et al. 1960)

and Francisco Balagtas Not read because they are
old but they are beautifully written. Arts regardless of
origin, time, and place are liked and enjoyed by
people continuously.
Assumptions of arts 2. Art is not nature. Man’s
expression of his reception of nature Man’s way of
interpreting nature. Art is made by man, whereas
nature is a given around us.

directed by representation of reality, is a perception of

reason why the artist made it. What is it that he wants
to show?
Assumptions of arts 3. Art involves experience. It
does not full detail but just an experience. “Actual
doing of something.” Radio DJ, Choreographer,
Painter, Sculptor “All art depends on experience, and
if one is to know art, he must know it not as fact or
information but as experience.”
1. Life is short — Art is long.
2. An Artist needs a sponsor to afford to
concentrate on Art works for long periods of time.
3. Some Arts are far more expensive than
others. For example, Architecture is the most
expensive by far. Sculpture is also massively
expensive. Musical instruments can be massively
expensive.
4. When an Art is massively expensive, the
Artist is often pressured to make compromises.
This is famously true in Architecture. Few
sculptors today bother with classic marble realism
because, so few sponsors are willing to fund
years of work in a gigantic studio.
5. Some Arts are far less expensive than
others. Dance today can proceed with recorded
music. Poetry requires only a pen and paper (or
some writing device).
6. All Art requires years of study and practice
— no matter what.
7. Artists who begin in infancy, because their
parents are Artists, have a major
advantage (e.g. Mozart, Nietzsche, Picasso,
Judy Garland) in a give
