HOW IS ART RELATED TO HUMANITIES?

Both interpret the human experience through words or non-verbal forms of expression.
It's true that the arts have more to do with the act of creation itself, whether through
performance or the physical production of works, while the humanities have to do more
with research and critical analysis.

The Humanities and Cultural Studies major investigates how people, across time and around
the world, have made meaning of the human condition through art, literature, philosophy,
religion, and more

WHY STUDIES HUMANITIES

A humanistic education will help you understand, appreciate, and produce art, music, theatre,
and literature. Humanities disciplines focus on understanding beauty and the good, and give
students the opportunity to practice making good and beautiful things themselves.

To have knowledge about the culture in the past through art from different time periods.
Humanities scholars, efforts preserve the great accomplishments of the past, help us
understand the world we live in, and give us tools to imagine the future.

WHY STUDYING HUMANITIES HELPS US TO KNOW HOW TO BE A HUMAN

The humanities help us understand others through their languages, histories and cultures. ...
The humanities encourage us to think creatively. They teach us to reason about
being human and to ask questions about our world. The humanities develop informed and
critical citizens.
How does a person develop virtues? Virtues are developed through learning and through
practice.

What is human virtue?

Human virtues are standard moral qualities of human beings and are related to the
construction of the personality of each individual.

Virtues are important because they are the basic qualities necessary for our well being and
happiness. By recognizing the importance of virtues, in our lives, it will lead to better
communication, understanding and acceptance between us and our fellow man.

What does social reform mean?

A reform movement is a type of social movement that aims to bring a social or political
system closer to the community's ideal.
Art is the work of an individual seeking to make a statement, to
invent, to cause a reaction, to connect, change a perspective,
improve a design, and change how it works. And yes, it might not
work but it’s a step in the right direction that contributes to
human evolution and transformation.

Without art, we’re not human. The ability to imagine and to take
that imagination and make it into reality is one of the things that
is really distinctive about humans.

ART APPRECIATION: CREATIVITY, IMAGINATION, AND EXPRESSION

It is going to take an artist to make art. You can see perfection on a regular basis.
However, not every exquisite object that can be viewed or experienced can
actually be considered a work of art. Art is a product of the ingenuity,
imagination, and speech of man. No matter how finely mixed the colors of the
sunset are and how extraordinary the mountains are, nature is not considered to
be art simply because it is not created by man. Not even images or drawings of
nature, though taken or drawn by man, are works of art, but mere records of the
beauty of nature. An artwork may be influenced by nature or other works of art,
but the artist invents his own forms and shapes because of what he sees as
beautiful and transforms them into his masterpiece. ( One important characteristic of
art is that it is not nature. Art is man’s expression of his reception of nature. Art is man’s way of
interpreting nature. Art is not nature. Art is made by man, whereas nature is a given around us It
is in this juncture that they can be considered opposites. What we find in nature should not be
expected to be present in art too. Movies are not meant to be direct representation of reality.
They may, according to the moviemaker’s perception of reality, be a reinterpretation or even
distortion of nature.)

Maybe not everybody should be called an artist, but certainly, they are all
spectators of art. In choosing what pair of shoes to buy, we closely evaluate all
possible options within our budget and purchase one that meets elegance and
functional requirements. We are able to differentiate between what is fine and
beautiful and what is not good and what is good quality and what is bad. This
gives us a role to play in the world of art appreciation.
ART APPRECIATION AS A WAY OF LIFE
Jean-Paul Sartre, a prominent French philosopher of the twentieth century,
described the role of art as an artistic work that represents the world in a totally
different light and viewpoint and a source of human liberation. What piece of art
presents the uniqueness of its own kind that the artist sees and wishes the
audience to see? More often than not, people are oblivious to this elegance, and
only those who have developed a fine sense of appreciation will appreciate and
see art in the same way as the artist did. Because of this, many works of art go
unnoticed, artists are not given proper recognition, and they lose chances. Often
it takes a lifetime to acknowledge their contribution to the creation of art. Thus,
refining one's ability to appreciate art helps one to deeply grasp the purpose of
an artwork and to realize the elegance that it possesses.
In fostering an enjoyment of art, one should also exercise and grow one's taste for
objects that are good and lovely. This allows individuals to make intelligent
choices and judgments in the acquittal of needs and luxuries, to realize what
provides more value for time or resources when considering esthetic and
functional value. This constant desire for esthetically valuable items affects the
creation and evolution of art and its types. Frequent museums, art galleries,
performing arts theaters, concert halls, or even malls showing art exhibits free
of charge during leisure time can not only gain an appreciation of art, but will
also act as a rewarding experience. Learning to enjoy art, no matter what
vocation or career you have, will contribute to a more fulfilling and meaningful
life.

ROLE OF CREATIVITY IN ART MAKING

Creativity involves looking outside of the box. It is also used to overcome
challenges that have never existed before, to merge feature and design, and
ultimately to make life more unique and enjoyable. In art, imaginative is what
distinguishes one artwork from another. We think something is done creatively
because we do not merely imitate some artist's work. He should not mimic
lines, defects, colors, and patterns in the recreation of nature. He celebrates
originality, brings his own taste into practice, and calls it his own innovative
piece.
ART AS A PRODUCT OF IMAGINATION, IMAGINATION AS A
PRODUCT OF ART
Imagination is not limited to the walls of the standard; it reaches beyond it. That
is why people rely on curiosity and creativity to make progress. Via creativity,
one can create something bold, something different, and something greater in the
expectation of producing something that will encourage progress. Imagination
makes for infinite possibilities.
In artist mind sits a vast gallery of artwork. An artwork does not need to be a real
thing but can be something that is imaginary. Take for example a musician who
thinks of a tune in his head. The making of this tune in his head makes it an
imaginary tune, an imaginative creation, an imaginary art. It remains imaginary
until he hums, sings, or writes down the notes if the tune on the paper,
However, something imaginary does not necessarily mean it cannot be called art.
Artist use their imagination that gives birth to reality through creation.
In the same way that imagination produces art, art is also inspiring
imagination imagine being in an empty room surrounded by blank, white walls,
and floor. Would you inspired to work in such a place? Often, you will find coffee
shops, restaurants, and libraries with paintings hung or sculptures and other
pieces of art around the room to add beauty to the surroundings. This craving
and desire to be surrounded by beautiful things dates back our early ancestors.
Cave walls are surrounded by drawings and paintings of animals they hunted,
wilds boars, reindeers, and bison. Clays were molded and stones were carved
into forms that resemble men and women; burial jars were created with
intricate design on them. These creative pieces were made not only because
they were functional to men, but also because beauty gave them joy.

ART AS EXPRESSION
There may have been times when you felt something is going on within you, you
try to explain it but you do not know how. You may only be conscious about
feeling this sort of excitement, fear, or agitation, but you know that just one
word is not enough to describe the nature of what you truly feel. Finally, you try
to release yourself from this tormenting and disabling state by doing something,
which is called expressing oneself. Suppose this feeling is excitement. It is
frustrating to contain such feeling, so you relieve it by expressing through
shouting or leaping in excitement. An emotion will remain unknown to a man
until he expresses it.
