DETAILS OF THE PROJECT:

1. There will be 3 three stages of the mushroom and each growth stage has a required environmental
condition meaning there is a desired temperature, humidity, light and Carbon dioxide concentration
in each stage. Below is the table of the required condition.

Required Environmental conditions in different operating mushroom stages

Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3

Spawn-run Pin head initiation Cropping mode

mode mode
Humidity 60-75% RH 85-90RH 80-85% RH
Temperature 22-26 °C 15-20°C 20 to 25 °C
Carbon dioxide 10,000- 20,000 ppm 800-1500 ppm Less than 600 ppm
Light Off 80-210 lux for 12 Above 500 lux for 12
hours hours

2. So in the arduino system, there will be three functions for each stage. There is a menu for selecting
the desired mushroom growth stage using a 4x4 keypad connected to the LCD

3. A TEXT MESSAGE ALERT should be sent to the smart phone when THERE IS CHANGES on the status
of the Relays/appliances together with the environmental data.

4. All the environmental data will be continuously stored in the database

5. CHANGES ON THE Status of the relays/appliances should also be stored in the database

HERE ARE THE CONDITIONS

CONDITION

STAGE 1. SPAWN-RUN

Humidity: The humidity should be maintained to 60-75% RL.

 IF humidity is less than 60% SWITCH ON the humidifier AND IF the humidity is greater than
75% , SWITCH OFF the RELAY for humidifier.

Temperature: The temperature should be maintained to 22-26 °C

 IF the Temperature is LESS THAN 22 °C, SWITCH OFF the RELAY for fan AND IF the
Temperature is GREATER THAN 26, SWITCH ON the RELAY for fan.
Light: The light is TURNED OFF

 No light required in this stage

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) – The CO2 should be 10,000 ppm to 20,000 ppm
 Just Monitor, record and send the data on the CO2 concentration, no other action needed

STAGE 2. PIN HEAD INITIATION

Humidity: The humidity should be maintained to 85-90% RL.

 IF humidity is less than 85% SWITCH ON the RELAY (Sprinkler and/or Humidifier )AND IF the
humidity is greater than 90% , SWITCH OFF the RELAY (Sprinkler and humidifier).

Temperature: The temperature should be maintained to 15-20 °C

 IF the Temperature is LESS THAN 15 °C, SWITCH OFF the RELAY (sprinkler and Fan) AND IF
the Temperature is GREATER THAN 20, SWITCH ON the RELAY (sprinkler and fan).

Light: The luminosity of the light should be maintained to 80-210 lux for 12 hours

 If the light luminosity is less than 80 lux and TIME IS 6 AM, SWITCH ON the lights/Bulbs. AND
IF the TIME IS 6 PM, SWITCH OFF the lights/Bulbs.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) – The CO2 should be 800 ppm to 1,500 ppm
 Just Monitor, record and send the data on the CO2 concentration, no other action needed
 Controlling the CO2 will be done manually.

STAGE 3. CROPPING MODE

Humidity: The humidity should be maintained to 80-85% RH

 IF the humidity is LESS THAN 80%, SWITCH ON THE RELAY (HUMIDIFIER/SPRINKLER), AND IF
the humidity is greater than 85%, SWITCH OFF the RELAY (humidifier/sprinkler.)

Temperature: The temperature should be maintained to 20-25 °C

 IF the Temperature is LESS THAN 20 °C, SWITCH OFF the RELAY (sprinkler or Fan) AND IF the
Temperature is GREATER THAN 25, SWITCH ON the RELAY (sprinkler or fan).

Light: The luminosity of the light should be maintained to 500 lux and above for 12 hours
 If the light luminosity is less than 500 and TIME IS 6 AM, SWITCH ON the RELAY
(lights/Bulbs). AND IF the TIME IS 6 PM, SWITCH OFF the RELAY (lights/Bulbs.)

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) – The CO2 should be less than 600 ppm
 Just Monitor, record and send the data on the CO2 concentration, no other action needed
 Controlling the CO2 will be done manually.
