BUNKER CALCULATION
1. Confirm the Total Quantity (Tonnes) of
Bunker Fuel to be received Corrected Density

2. Take sounding of Bunker Tanks &

calculate the available quantity of fuel
Density of FO@15'c
onboard, denoting how much tonnes of
fuel to be bunkered on each tank & the FO Temp
tank sequence

3. Before bunker operations, confirm the METRIC TONNES

TEMPERATURE at which the bunker is to be
received and note down the STANDARD
DENSITY of the fuel oil @ 15 degC Actual Sounder Volume

4. Calculate the VOLUME of the bunker to Corrected Density

be received in each tank as per bunker plan
and note the FINAL SOUNDING of each tank
after bunkering.

MASS
MASS=VOLUME X DENSITY Volume

Note that the above formula, the density Density

and volume of bunker fuel should be known
at the same temperature. Density of Fuel
Oil (Kg/m3) at standard reference
temperature 15 degrees C

5. After receiving the bunker, take Sounding

of all Bunker Tanks and note the
Temperature

Corrected Density=(Density of Fuel Oil@15degC)

degC - 15degC) x 0.0006

Note: Since the bunker oil is normally

supplied to the vessel at a temperature
higher than 15degC, the formula used for
calculating the bunker quantity in weight
