I. scope of work
This outline is provided to perform test on the structure of swimming pools on the 4th
floor of the building Indochina Plaza Hanoi.
II. Bases of outline
- Working design documents of the structure of the swimming pools on the 4th floor of
Indochina Plaza Hanoi.
- Based on the requirements of the owner on performing load test on the structure of the
swimming pools on the 4th floor of Indochina Plaza Hanoi.
- TCVN 2737:1995 Load & effect. Design standard
- TCXDVN 356: 2005 Concrete & reinforced concrete structure. Design standard
- TCXDVN 338: 2005 Steel structure. Design standard
- TCXDVN 363: 2006 Reinforced concrete structures. Strength evaluation of flexural
members in situ by static load test
Requirements of the static load test are as follows: during the procedure of applying load
using water weight on the swimming pool and Jacuzzi pool on the 4th floor, measuring the
following parameters:
- Measuring displacements of steel beams supporting the swimming pools.
- Measuring displacements of cantilever slab of Jacuzzi pool.
- Measuring displacement of column cap which connected to steel structure.
- Gradually apply load using water weight to the designed level of swimming pool on the
4th floor
- Measuring displacements of steel beams supporting the swimming pools.
- Measuring displacements of cantilever slab of Jacuzzi pool.
- Measuring displacement of column cap which connected to steel structure.
- Monitoring cracks occurred on concrete surface during load test procedure (if there are
any).
- Monitoring steel structures, joints locations during applying load increment
- Locations of load applied are shown on appendices.
- Locations of displacement measuring devices are shown on appendices.
Table 1: Levels of load increment and observation minutes for each level
TT Level Applied load (water Loading Monitoring criteria

1 0(0% PTN) 0 displacement & crack

3 II(40% PTN) 0,4 hTK 5 displacement & crack
4 III(60% PTN) 0,6 hTK 5 displacement & crack
5 IV(80% PTN) 0,8 hTK 5 displacement & crack
6 V(100% PTN) hTK 1440 displacement & crack
7 VI(80% PTN) 0,8 hTK 5 displacement & crack
8 VII(60% PTN) 0,6 hTK 5 displacement & crack
9 VIII(40% PTN) 0,4 hTK 5 displacement & crack
10 IX(20% PTN) 0,2 hTK 5 displacement & crack
11 X (0% PTN) 0 360 displacement & crack
6.3 Condition to halt load test
During load test procedure, if any of the following occurrences happened, the test should
be stopped:
- Concrete in compression zone is cracked or crushed;
- Loss of stability of structure or structure’s component;
- Local failure develops while applied load remains unchanged;
- Value of deformation or deflection occurred at the final load level are found to be
greater or equal to the sum of deformation and deflection values at previous load
levels;
- Deflection is greater or equal to 1/50 span length;
- Crack width is greater or equal to 1.5mm and crack length is greater than 200mm;
- Failure caused by inclined cracks near concentrated load locations;
- Bonding between concrete and rebars is lost.
VIII. Assessment criteria
Modeling of swimming pool for analysis
+(Locations to evaluate dipsplacement are located at the middle of beams. The locations of
displacement measurement gauges are shown on drawings TN-01, TN-02)
+As requested by the owner: in order to monitor displacement of column cap under 4th floor
slab when load is being applied to the swimming pool, the consultant provides a solution to
attach displacement measurement gauges to the surface of 4th floor slab with fixed spot on
column cap under 5th floor slab and measure using plumb bob (displacement measurement
gauges V1, V4, V5, V11, V12, V13)
