REGULAR PLURALS:
Generally, we add -s to the noun to form their plural form:
a plant - plants
a shop-shops
a cat-cats
a dog-dogs
We add -es if the singular noun ends in -s ,-ss, -sh, -ch or -x.
a bus - buses
a dish- dishes
a fox-foxes
a boss-bosses
a branch - branches
There are some nouns that end in -o . We add -es to form their plural:
a tomato - tomatoes
a potato - potatoes
a hero - heroes
a volcano - volcanoes
To the nouns ending in the consonant -y, we add -ies and get rid of -y
a baby - babies
a family - families
a strawberry- strawberries
The nouns that end in either -f or -fe form their plural by adding -ves:
one life - lives
a thief - thieves
a knife - knives
a loaf - loaves
