Exercise No 1
Network setup

1. Define the IP-address for the computer

 Start the Network Connection Tool

 Click properties button

 Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and click Properties button

 Select option button Use the following IP address and set the IP-address and subnet
mask for computer according to picture below.

2. Define the IP-address for IED’s

 The IP-address for the IED’s will be set from the HMI.
o Select Settings
 Select General settings
 Select Communication
o Select TCP-IP configuration
 IP-address

 Set the IP-address 172.16.1.200

 The subnet mask 255.255.255.0

3. Test the communication

 Start the command prompter, see pictures below.

 Make sure that you can “ping” the switch and the IED’s from the computer.

PCM600 configuration

1. Create a new PCM600 project

 Select File Open/Manage project

 Click New Project

 Define the name of the project

 Open the project

2. Engineer the structure

 Insert a region. Right click at the top level and select New->General->Region. Rename
the item to SYRIA

 Insert a substation. Right click at the region level and select New->General-
>Substation. Rename the item to ADRA.

 Insert a voltage level. Right click at the substation level and select New->General-
>Voltage level. Rename the item to 230kV.

 Insert bay. Right click at the Voltage level and select New->General->Bay. Rename
the item to D01.

 Insert the IED’s. Right click at Bay level E1 and select New-> Transmission IED-> REL670.

 Set the parameters according to the picture below and click next button.

 Select IEC61850 communication and click Next button.

 Set the IP-address and click next button

 Click next button

 Check the check box and click next button

 Check the Finish button

 Final structure. Make sure that your structure is identical as the picture below.

 Check the IP-addresses for the IED’s in the property list. Focus at IED level and select
Properties item.

 Make sure that you have the correct IP-addresses.

Exercise No 3
PCM600 configuration, application configuration

1. Insert predefined CAP531 templates

 Select REL670 at D01 and right click. Start the application configuration tool.

 Type in the password

ABB

 Have focus at REL670. Select Edit menu and Insert template

 Compile the graphics

 Download the configuration to the relay
