Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy Level(s):

☒ Remembering ☒ Understanding ☒ Applying ☐ Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☒ Creating

Levels of Technology Integration:

☐ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☐ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☒ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): My activity reflects the UDL principles of Engagement and
Representation. Children will be engaged with this activity because it is something fun, they will actually get
to do as a group. Students will find it engaging because they are like “teaching” the content to another class
as they present their narrated PowerPoint. Representation is also shown as one of the principles the students
will be doing. They students will be going to different classes and be able to present their work and help other
students know the parts of the plant.
Lesson idea implementation: The students would have learned about the parts of the plant earlier in the
week. To finish up the lesson, the students will have to narrate a PowerPoint. They will be put into groups of
4. Each student will get one slide. The slide says, “This part of the plant is ___” and the students will draw an
arrow on the slide pointing to the correct part of the plant. All students will do so. The students can look back
at their flipbooks about the parts of the plants they did earlier in the week.

After all groups have finished their narrative of the PowerPoint, each group will be assigned to a different 1 st
grade classroom. The four students will then present their PowerPoint to that class. This will give the students
an opportunity to present their narrative PowerPoint to other people.
Reflective Practice: I believe this lesson idea can really help the students learn the parts of the plant. They will
be very engaged and doing lots of participation. They can pull out their flipbook they made and refer back to
it when needed. To further the learning of this lesson, as a class we can get a plant. We can plant the seed
and watch it as it begins to grow. As the plant is growing the students will be able to see the parts of the

plant. Having a visual can make learning so much fun and easier for some. This will also get them engage
about the lesson and learn more about plants. The students can also make some type of video they can
upload to YouTube talking about the process they saw on the plant as it was growing. Of course that would be
in a different lesson plan for the students to do.
