Introduction

Partial derivative.

In Mathematics, a Partial Derivative Of a Function several variables is its

Derivative with respect to one of thoes variables ,With the other held constant
(as opposed to the total Derivative ,in which all variablesare allowed to vary).

Partial Derivative are used in vector calculus and differential geometry.

𝒅 𝒇 𝒙,𝒚° −𝒇 𝒙°−𝒚°
Fx(XO,YO)= [f(x,yo)]=𝐥𝐢𝐦𝒙=𝒙°
𝒅𝒙 𝒙−𝒙°

Partial Derivative of f respect to X at (xo,yo).

𝒅 𝒇 𝒙°−𝒚 −𝒇 𝒙°−𝒚°
Fy(XO,YO)= [ f(xo,y)]=𝐥𝐢𝐦𝒚=𝒚°
𝒅𝒚 𝒚−𝒚°

Partial derivative of f with respect to y at (xo,yo).

Rules.

𝒅
1-fx(x,y) = [ f(x,yo) ]
𝒅𝒙

𝒅
2- fy(x,y) = [ f(xo , y) ].

Example 1: f ( x,y )=x2sin(y3)

* 3
= 2x sin(y ), =x2 *cos(y3)*(3y2)=

3x2y2 cos(y3).
Example 2: f (x,y)=x2+sin(y3)
3 2 2 3
= 2x, = cos(y )*(3y )=3y cos(y ).

Example 3:f (x,y)= =

(2x)=2x*( )2, =2 .

Example 4: f (x,y)=ln(2x2y)
= (4xy)= . = (2x2) = .

You can altematively rewrite f(x,y)

ysing log properties,as
f(x,y)=ln(2x2)+ln(y) and get same result
End.
