What is the deflections?
Solutions:-
Deflection
In engineering, deflection is the degree to which a structural element is displaced under
a load (due to its deformation). It may refer to an angle or a distance.The deflection distance of a
member under a load can be calculated by integrating the function that mathematically describes
the slope of the deflected shape of the member under that load .

The deflection of the beam can be computed by the following
• Moment -area method
• Superposition method
• Double integration method
• Macaulayś method
• Castiglioneś method
• Direct stiffness method
• Slope deflection Method

Solutions:-
y/x=30/1.5 →y=30x/1.5
∴R=30X-45/1.5
∑Mo=0
3
M=[-1/2(30x-45)(x-2.25)] +[1/2(30x-45)(x-2.5)-[30(x-1.5)(x-2.25) + [30(x-1.5)(x-2.25)]-
[22.5(x-1)] + Ay +MA X⁰
EI∫y"=∫M
EI∫y"=∫(Ayx+MAx⁰ - 2.25(x-1) )
Boundary conditions:-
0=Ay(0)³/6+MA(0)²/2-22.5(0-1)³/6+C1(0)+C2
C2=o
at X=3 →y=0
0=Ay(3)³/6+MA(3)²/2-22.5(3-1)³/6+C1(3)+0
0=4.5Ay+4.5MA-30+3C →3C1=30-4.5MA-4.5Ay
C1 = (30-4.5(MA+Ay)(/ 3
At X=0 → y'=0
4
3 = 30 - 4.5Ay - 4.5MA
at x=3 →y'=0
0=Ay(3)⁰/2+MA(3)+30-4.5(MA+Ay)-22.5(3-1)²/2
by sub ❶of❷
0=27-4.5MA +3MA -45+8-1.165MA →0=-2.665 MA -10 →MA= -10/2.665 →MA= -3.752 kN.m
By substituting Ay equation
By substituting Ay of C1 equation
