1 Preface
1.1 Introduction
Trailer CAN parameters allow reading CAN data from trailer electronic brake systems (EBS). All EBS
systems conforming to the ISO 11992 standard can be used for CAN data reading. This document
contains configuration and installation instructions for the following EBS system manufacturers:
WABCO
Haldex
Knorr Bremse
Trailer CAN parameters are available for the following FM devices with the latest firmware version:
FM-Tco4 HCV
FM-Pro4
You can get the latest firmware and configurator from our documentation website: doc.ruptela.lt

2 WABCO
2.1 EBS control unit configuration
Before installation, the EBS control unit must be properly configured. You will need an official WABCO
diagnostic tool for this. If you do not have access to it, please refer to your trailer distributor. Connect
the diagnostic tool to the EBS control unit and launch the diagnostic software.
Once the software is launched, connect the software to the diagnostic tool and wait until EBS data is
received. The received data will be displayed in the ECU Data section on the left and in the system
schematic on the right.
Locate the ECU type in the ECU Data section. The type is already specified and can be either
Standard or Premium. Further EBS control unit configuration and connection depend on the specified
ECU type.

Click the Setting parameters for the EBS system button.

Navigate to the (4) Standard functions tab by clicking Next >> at the bottom of the window. If the
ECU type is Premium, tick the Diagnostics/Telematic System GIO5 (DIAG) checkbox in the
Standard functions section.

2.2 FM device connection to EBS control unit
Only WABCO cables can be used for the connection to the EBS control unit. The exact type of cable
depends on the ECU type. Locate the EBS control unit underneath the trailer.
If the ECU type is Premium, use a GIO5 4-pin Code B cable (part.no 449 610 XXX X). Connect the
cable to the GIO5 socket of the EBS control unit and then connect the FM device to the cable as
follows:

FM device WABCO EBS system

Red – 12/24 V DC Pin 1 – Power supply
Black – Ground Pin 2 – Ground
White/Red – CAN High Pin 3 – CAN High
Blue/Red – CAN Low Pin 4 – CAN Low

If the ECU type is Standard, use a Subsystem 8-pin code C blue cable (part.no 449 907 010 0).
Remove the socket protection to gain access to the Subsystems socket. Connect the cable to the EBS
control unit as shown below:
