The 30-day Rule

Have you ever experienced when you go to the shopping mall, you fall in love with one of the
latest smartphones but it is not within your budget to buy it? When you go back home, you keep on
thinking of the smartphone. You know that you should not splurge as you like. So, what should you
do? Here is the 30-day rule for you to follow.
Firstly, whenever you feel the desire to purchase anything — whether it's a new dress, a new
smartphone, or a new motorbike you should force yourself to stop. Put the item back and leave the
store.
Next, you should straightaway go back home. When you reach home, of course you are still
thinking of the item. So, take a piece of paper and necessarily write down the item. Don't forget to jot
down the name of the store, the price of the item and the date only if you can still remember them.
Then, paste this note in some places such as on your fridge, a bulletin board, or a mirror in your
bedroom. After thirty days, think deeply whether you really need the item. However, you should not
immediately buy it.
Finally, by the end of the month if the desire is still there, then only you should take into
consideration of purchasing it. Remember you only can buy it as long as you have the cash. Do not
buy it on credit. It is simple but effective. You are not rejecting yourself. You are just delaying
gratification. The 30-day rule helps you to make a great choice without any regrets as you have the
chance to survey on the item that you really want to purchase. This can save you from heartbreak.
