1. COMPETENCIA:

To strength my communicative skills such as reading, writing, listening and speaking using
vocabulary and grammar abilities that have been learnt to continue in a learning process and
apply the knowledge to my day to day taking in consideration the tenses Simple Past and
Present Perfect

2. INTRODUCCIÓN:

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to form and use present perfect tense, be
familiar with the formation and word order in negative sentences and questions.
Target Grammar: Present Perfect
Target Vocabulary: family members.

1. How to form Present Perfect Tense:
Present Perfect Tense is formed by using the past participle form of the verb.

• past participle = 3rd form of the verb (know – knew – known)

• (I, you, we, they) + have + past participle


• (he, she, it) + has + past participle

Positive Example: I have lived in Tokyo for seven years.


• (I, you, we, they) + have not/haven’t + past participle
• (he, she, it) + has not/ hasn’t + past participle

Negative Example: I have not lived in Tokyo for seven years.


• Have + (I, you, we, they) + past participle?
• Has + (he, she, it) + past participle?

Questions Example: Have you lived in Japan?


2. When to use Present Perfect Tense:
We use Present Perfect Tense to talk about things that happened in the past, but we can still see the result
now.
Example: My grandparents have lived together for 42 years. *They still live together now.

Practice:
1. Make the verb in brackets Present Perfect Tense.
1. Tony’s girlfriend (to work) for the same company since 2010.
2. My brother (to visit) New York three times.
3. My aunt (to be) a teacher for 12 years now.
4. My neighbor (to be) single for 1 year.
