INTRODUCCIÓN

El presente documento nos ayudará a reforzar expresar ideas, pensamientos usando la


3ra persona del singular en tiempo presente. Esta 3ra persona se refiere a los pronombres
subjetivos HE / SHE/ or IT, en donde el verbo llevará una terminación especial la que a la vez
es muy importante conocer y pronunciar cuando hablamos inglés.

El uso de la Tecnología de la Información y Comunicación (TIC), te ayudará a buscar mayor


información y practicas diversas para reforzar y desarrollar tu dominio de este importante
idioma para tu desarrollo personal, académico y profesional.

Además, he incluido vocabulario de inglés técnico que te será de gran utilidad en este
mundo de competencia profesional, el cual sé te será de ayuda.

OBJETIVOS
OBJETIVO GENERAL. The SWBATo:
1. To be able to interact in different professional situations.
OBJETIVOS DE APRENDIZAJE. The student will be able to (SWBATo):
1. learn to speak about routines of another person in 3rd person.
2. learn how to pronounce the 3rd person "s" added to the end of verbs in both positive and negative forms
3. exchange personal information, and also from others.

CONTENIDOS
 Conceptual:

3rd Person singular –simple present
 Procedimental:
Writing an argumentative paragraph, e-mails, dialogues, related to personal information,
preferences, routines, interests, others, using the given grammar structures.
 Actitudinal:
Showing a positive attitude and confidence toward learning tasks.
Using his/her imagination and creativity to perform specific assignments.

Lesson N°1
Present Tense - 3rd Person Singular
RULES TO APPLY / S, ES, IES /

The vast majority of verbs, the third person singular in the simple present is formed by adding –s to the main
form. However there are a few spelling rules and irregular verbs to be aware of. 
Spelling rules

Add -es, if the verb ends in: If the verb ends in consonant + y,
remove the -y and add -ies. Ex:
-s bus + -es= busses
-y rely + -ies = relies
-z quiz + es= quizzes
Worry + -ies= worries
-sh brush + -es= brushes
Study + -ies= studies
-ch branch+-es= branches
Bury + -ies= buries
-x fix + -es= fixes
Ex. “ The father buries his son.”
-o veto + -es= vetoes

Irregular Verbs
Two very common irregular verbs that you already know do not follow the rules above

Example: be - is have - has

Some examples in sentences to follow:

1. My brother speaks three languages fluently.


2. Daniel watches his favorite program every Saturday.
3. My sister does her homework after school.
4. My father ….. (not like) fast food. = My father does not like fast food.
5. Paul ---- (not play) tennis = Paul does not play tennis.
6. Henry plays tennis.

Doctor Bugs Most people don’t like bugs, but Doctor Mark Moffet loves
them! In fact, his nickname is Doctor Bugs. He’s a photographer and an
entomologist. An entomologist studies bugs.

Doctor Moffett’s favorite bug is the ant. He goes all over the world to study
ants. He watches them as they eat, work, rest, sleep, and fight.
He takes photographs of the ants. He lies on the ground with his camera and
waits for the right moment. The ants and other bugs often bite him, but that
doesn’t stop Doctor Bugs. He has an interesting and unusual job, and he loves
it!
