Nadu on Sunday as the second
worst-hit state by the pan-
demic after Maharashtra. The
national capital now has 66,602
cases with the biggest single-
day jump of 3,947 fresh infec-
tions and 2,301 deaths.
Currently, there are 261
containment zones in the
Capital.
“More than 2,500 new cases
and upto 75 deaths (are) being
reported every day (in Delhi).
About 45 per cent of the cases
(in containment zones) are
showing signs of clustering
in containment zones,” the
Delhi government said.
As per new rules, Aarogya
Setu App has to be installed by

containment zones.

centre has been entrusted to
the ITBP. “The force took
over the Covid-19 care cen-
tre at Radha Soami Beas in
Chattarpur, New Delhi on
Wednesday. The home min-
istry had nominated ITBP as
the nodal agency to provide
doctors and team of other pro-
fessionals to this centre as
requested by the Delhi gov-
ernment,” an ITBP officer
said. It is expected that a
2,000-bed facility will be oper-
ational at the centre from 26
June, another officer said.
The total bed capacity may go
up to 10,200. This will be the
largest Covid-19 care centre
in the national capital as well
as the country, he said.
More than 1,000 doctors
of the ITBP and other Central
Armed Police Forces (CAPFs)
and 2,000 paramedics and
security staff are expected to
be deployed at this facility, the
officer said.
The South Delhi district
administration will provide
administrative support to the
centre, he said.
The ITBP was the first
organisation in the country
to have created a 1,000-bed
quarantine centre for coron-
avirus-affected people. The
centre in Chhawla area of
South-west Delhi has treat-
ed about 1,200 people, includ-
ing 42 foreigners who were
brought to India on special
evacuation flights fromWuhan
in China and Italy, after the
Covid-19 outbreak few months
back. The facility is still oper-
ational and is taking care of
those ITBP troops who are join-
ing work after the countrywide
lockdown.
The ITBP also created the
first standard operating pro-
cedures (SOPs) for manage-
ment of the pandemic among
the various CAPFs and cen-
tral and state police organi-
sations. The 90,000 person-
nel strong force is primarily
tasked to guard the 3,488 km
long Line of Actual Control
(LAC) with China.
Meanwhile, Delhi Jal Board
(DJB) vice chairperson Raghav
Chadha today visited
the 10,000-bed Covid care
centre at the Radha Soami Sat-
sang Beas campus.
Chadha said the DJB has

carried out engineering works
and installed hydrants to con-
nect an underground reser-
voir to which clean Ganga
water would be provided to
patients and the health care
staff.
The DJB will collect water
samples five times a day and
check the water quality.
In a statement, Chadha also
said the DJB has appointed
a nodal officer to ensure prop-
er water supply there.
The underground reservoir
facility along with the installed
hydrants will be of 1,70,000
litres. Chadha said this was the
first of its kind venture where
three partners were working
together to build this Covid
care facility.
“It is a textbook example
of perfect partnership. The
Arvind Kejriwal government
is carrying out all the man-
agerial, administrative and
engineering works. The cen-
tral government is providing
medical personnel through the
ITBP and the Radha Soami Sat-
sang Beas has provided the
facility and the space," Chad-
ha pointed out.
The AAP leader said he has
requested CM Kejriwal to
inaugurate the facility.
