 HOME RULE MOVEMENT (1916)
 B.G Tilak was released from the Mandalay Jail in the
1914.
 In 1915 he re-entered in Indian National Congress.

Two Home Rule league was established.

The first one called Indian Home Rule League was

started by B.G Tilak at Poona on 28th April, 1916.

The second One called Home Rule League by Annie

Besant (along with her lieutenants George Arundale, C.P
Aiyar and B.P Wadia) near Madaras in Sept 1916.
 HOME RULE MOVEMENT (1916)
Objective:  Self- Government for India In the British
Empire.
During this Movement Tilak gave the Slogan :-
“ Swaraj is My Birth Right and I will have it”
Newspaper During Home Rule League Movements
1) “Mahratta” in English and “Kesari” in Marathi
Newspaper of Tilak.

2) “New India” and “Commonweal” of Annie Besant.

 Lucknow Pact (1916)
 An Important step forward in achieving Hindu –
Muslim unity was the Lucknow Pact .
 Anti British feelings were generated among the
Muslims following a war between Britain and Turkey
which opened way for Congress and Muslim League
unity.
Both the Congress and the Muslim League held
session at Lucknow in 1916 and Concluded the famous
Lucknow pact.
The Congress accepted the separate electorate and
Both Organizations jointly demanded ‘dominion
status’ for the Country.

Sarojini Naidu gave Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the
Title.
“Ambassador of Hindu- Muslim Unity”.

3.First Female Governor of India (UP)
