Dear Assistant Director Maxwell,

My name is Vincent Honerkamp, and I write to you today out of great interest in the graduate assistant
opening within the Division of Academic Enhancement for the TRIO McNair Scholars and TRIO Student
Support Services Programs. I hope to continue with my Master’s degree in Public Policy with a particular
focus in international development in the area of educational development. I believe that everyone should
have an equal chance at an advanced education and that no one should be limited in their success and
opportunities based on their background or economic status.

I believe my fluency in English, French, and Arabic, and extensive travel for professional and personal
development in the Middle East and North Africa will greatly benefit the program and students. Having an
extensive amount of international experience helping students acclimate and monitor intercultural
dialogue session is another asset I would bring to the position.

In addition, I have grown up in the Athens, GA area and attended Clarke Central High School and am
familiar with the city, as well as having completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia.
My familiarity with the campus, as well as common interaction first generation students in the past will aid
me further into acclimating into the program.

Ultimately, the driving factor behind my decision to pursue a position with the TRIO program is to get my
foot into the world of educational development, and further enhance my skills, as well as contribute to the
university with my current skillset and help coordinate and create excellent and fulfilling experiences for
students.
