Article – a single post on a blog.

Author – the name of the person who wrote a blog post

Avatar – a photo or graphic image which represents the blog owner across blogs, at times displayed in the profile and comments section.

Blog – shortened term for “weblog.” It can be a website or part of a website.

Blogger – the person who owns or writes for a blog.

Blogging – act of writing for a blog.

Blogosphere – community of bloggers and blogs in the Internet

Blogroll – list of links/blogs that the blogger recommends.

Category – sometimes referred to as “tags” but it has a different usage. Category is of a higher division and is broader, while tags are more

specific definition beneath a specific category—e.g. an article that talks about classroom blogging belongs to the category of “education,”

but it can be tagged as “learning” or “online teaching.”

CMS (or platform) – short for content management system; a software program that allows people to add content on a website.

CSS (or stylesheet) - short for Cascading Style Sheet; used to style webpages and is written in HTML.

Domain - the blog's main URL or address

Domain Name - the name of your domain

Header – topmost part of the blog that contains logos, taglines, and menus.

Hyperlink – also known as “link”; a clickable content in a page that directs the reader to another page or website.

HTML – short for Hypertext Markup Language; language used for writing web pages.

Permalink – the URL of a particular post.

Post – also known as “article.”

RSS – short for Really Simple Syndication; a way by which users can subscribe to a feed.

Sitemap- a directory that helps users/readers navigate the pages of a blog site.

Social Media Sharing – a tool that allows the blogpost to be shared in social media.

Theme - refers to the overall look of the blog; can be customized in color, font style, etc.

URL – short for Uniform Resource Locator; refers to the address of a website or webpage

Widget – area in a website that is designed to standout in a blog; can be found in the sidebars; also used to design a blog site without the

use of HTML or CMS
