Industry Visited: Rapsri Engineering Products Company Ltd.

A batch of IV semester Automobile Engineering students and two staff


coordinators visited the Rapsri Engineering Products Company Pvt Ltd on
12.04.2019.

The students were first given a brief introduction about the company’s history
and different processes carried out in the industry. They are as follows:

1. Foundry processes: Continuous casting, centrifugal casting, permanent


mould casting, sand casting.

2. Machining processes:
a) Bronze Bushings: Turning/Fine Boring/ Centerless Grinding, Face
Milling and Body Drilling on drill-mill centers, Oil grooving in various
patterns on specially designed Special Purpose Machines, Broaching.

b) Permanent Mold Castings: Turning on CNC turning centers, Milling,


Drilling and Tapping in state of the art Twin Pallet Vertical Machining
Centers and CNC milling centers. 
c) Sand Castings: Turning on CNC turning centers, Milling and Drilling on
conventional machines, CNC machines, Vertical Machining Centers
and Horizontal Machining Centers.

In the next session, students were taken to various departments of the


industry. It included REPL and RWPL. Both are subsidiaries of Rapsri Industries.

Observations made:

1. Copper cathode (6 kgs).


2. Zinc plate
3. Lead ingots
4. Returns: A separate room was allotted for storing rejected
workpieces which would later be recycled.
5. Spectro Room: To check hardness, ash content in the metal.
6. Paper polishing: Included belt emery machine.
7. Nitrogen cylinders.
8. Inspection: The workers followed various inspection methods and
checked parallelism, flatness of the products. If the products did not
meet the design requirements, they were rejected.
9. Induction furnace: The machine works 24x7 and the programming is
done according to the requirement. Electrical engineers are
responsible for its maintainance.
