The table data presents information about the result of a survey that was conducted among 6800
Scottish people who were 16 years old or over to find out what type of cultural activities they
participated in the previous 1 year.

Overall, ‘dancing, singing, playing instrument and acting’ that fall under the ‘any performance
group’ and visual art were the two most popular cultural activities among the Scottish people while
computer based cultural activities had the least popularity.

As is presented in the table graph, any performance which includes dancing, singing, playing
musical instrument and acting was the most popular cultural activities among the people of all groups
except 45-74 years old age group who preferred cultural purchases more. This activities were more
popular among the young people (16-24 years old) comprising 35% while it was 22% for all people.
Craft activities were more popular among 45-74 years old Scottish people as 22% people 19%. Cultural
purchase was most popular among 45-74 years old (18%) while visual art was more popular among
the younger people (30%). Writing was very less popular among the aged people (only 5%- 6%) while
it was about more than three times popular among the young people (17%). Finally 6% of total people
participated in computer based cultural programs and among them young people were highest in
