This is an innovated coupling based on systems that

have been giving satisfactory service for over 100

years.

PERFORMANCE Each rubber gasket is contained in a compression chamber which is formed by the
follower gland ring, coupling body and the pipe surface. In tightening the bolts the follower
gland rings are drawn together, thus reducing the volume of the compression chambers
and compressing the gaskets. The combination of a wedge shaped gasket and the flared
edge of the coupling body forces the rubber gasket down onto the pipe barrel ensuring a
pressure tight seal.

In order to ensure that the coupling gives a lifetime of trouble free service, the gasket is
compressed well above the pressure needed to form a pressure tight seal. This is
designed to compensate for rubber creep, which occurs due to fluctuation in temperature,
pressure, and general loss of strength in rubber products over a period of time.

FLEXIBILITY
Each coupling has been designed to accommodate a minimum of 10 mm of longitudinal
movement, (plus or minus 2.5 mm per gasket joint) and a deflection of 6° (3 ° per gasket
FOLLOWER joint).
GLAND RING BOLT MIDDLERING GASKET PIPE

For practical purposes most couplings will successfully operate at twice the minimum
figures, as given in the table, without any signs of leaking. Advantage of these properties
can be taken during installation to allow for ground movement after laying or misaligned
pipe ends.

CONFIGURATIONS
EUROCOUP COUPLING
Straight couplings are designed to join material of the same outside diameters.

EUROCOUP FLANGE ADAPTOR

FOLLOWER Flange adaptors are used to join plain ended pipes to flanged products, such as valves,
GLAND RING BOLT MIDDLERING GASKET PIPE in a flexibly jointed pipe run.

EUROCOUP STEPPED COUPLING

Stepped couplings are intended to joint either different material that have the same inside
diameter be it different outside diameters or in some cases join pipes with different bores.

EUROCOUP END CAP

End caps are suitable for blanking of a pipeline.

EUROCOUP LONG COUPLING

FOLLOWER Couplings with long bodies are manufactured to cater for ground movement i.e,
GLAND
BODY STUDBOLT GASKET RING PIPE subsidence due to coal mining or where the gap between the spigot end is too big to use
a standard coupling.

Special couplings with flanged branches can be manufactured to order.

ADVANTAGES
FLEXIBILITY
- Expansion and contraction: 5 mm for each gasket joint.
EXPANSION 5 5 - Coupling: 10 mm (+5 -5 mm) and Flange Adaptor: 5 mm (+2.5 -2.5 mm)
& CONTRACTION
- Deflection of pipe ends 3° per gasket joint. Coupling 6° and Flange Adaptor 3°.
- Absorbs vibrations
- Absorbs small amounts of misalignment.

TOLERANCES
- Standard ovality and tolerances in the outside diameter of pipes are easily
accommodated.
ANGULAR α - Misalignment can be accepted and no lining out of pipe ends is necessary.
DEFLECTION

INSTALLATION
- Is fast, economical and can be carried out by unskilled labour.
- No expensive electrical or mechanical equipment. Only a spanner and lubricant
is required.
- Can be carried out under all weather conditions.
VIBRATION - No excessively wide trenches are required.
- Bends can be negotiated using straight pipes and couplings.
- No beveling, threading or measuring the outside diameter of the pipe is required.
- Thin walled pipes can be used.
- There is no damage to pipe coatings by the heat generated by welding.
α
MAINTENANCE
- No x-raying is required after jointing.
MISALIGNMENT - Ground movements due to settlement can be accomodated with ease.
- Stresses imposed in rigid pipelines are minimised by the inherent flexibility.
- They can easily be dismantled and used as “ dismantling pieces” for valves and pumps.
- Once laid no maintenance is required.
- For cathodic protected lines a conductive armoured gasket can be supplied for
electrical continuity.
- Couplings are available with factory applied coatings.

RATINGS
- Working pressure see table.
- Higher working pressures on request.

NOTE
- When pipe movement out of the coupling might occur, proper anchorage of the pipe
must be provided.
