RUCO-BAC AGP

COMPOSITION Preparation of inorganic salts and surfactants, anionic

USES Hygienic finish for all fibre types, highly resistant to washing, especially suitable for textiles
worn next to the skin

PROPERTIES - Bacteriocidal and slightly fungicidal properties

- Non-migrating, antimicrobial effects
- Highly resistant to washing and dry cleaning; on polypropylene limited resistance of
antibacterial effects to washing and dry cleaning
- RUCO-BAC AGP has no effect on existing or imparted hydrophilic properties
- Compatible with optical brighteners and many textile auxiliaries; preliminary trials
regarding liquor compatibility, especially in combination with cationic products, are
recommended
- Does not affect the rub, perspiration or light fastness of dyeings
- Resistant to yellowing
- Resistant to higher drying temperatures
- Stable at pH 3 - 11
- BfR*-registration card No.: 36541
- Registered according to the European biocide product directive in Germany: N-12827
- FDA**-approval of the active ingredient, but not of the preparation (RUCO-BAC AGP),
applicable in the following areas:
- 21CFR 175.105 Adhesives
- 21CFR 175.300 Resinous coatings
- 21CFR 176.170 Aqueous and fatty foods
- 21CFR 176.180 Dry foods
- 21CFR 177.2600 Rubber
- 21CFR 175.320 Polyolefin films
- Included in the Oeko-Tex list (www.oeko-tex.com)

TECHNICAL DATA - White, milky suspension

- Specific gravity at 20 °C ca. 1.1 g/cm³
- pH value ca. 7
- Easily dispersible in cold or warm water

APPLICATION RUCO-BAC AGP has to be pre-diluted with cold water whilst stirring thoroughly prior to
adding it to the initial liquor to ensure optimum product dispersion. The initial liquors should
be immediately used and filtered in advance. Avoid prolonged standing due to the product’s
light sensitivity and tendency to sediment.

Ensure that the ready-for-finishing fabric, especially in the case of optically brightened
textiles or pale shades, has been adjusted to a neutral pH value with non-volatile acid, such
as citric acid or the non-volatile buffer system RUCO-ACID ABS.

Padding process 0.5 - 2.0 g/l RUCO-BAC AGP

(Economy standard finish)
2.0 - 5.0 g/l RUCO-BAC AGP
(Performance standard finish)

Special case wool 10 - 20 g/l RUCO-BAC AGP

(Economy/performance standard finish)

Adjust fabric pH to 4.5 – 5 with non-volatile acid, such as citric acid or RUCO-ACID ABS.

liquor pick-up ca. 60 - 70 %

dry at 100 - 170 °C

Exhaust method 0.05 - 0.2 % RUCO-BAC AGP

(Economy standard finish)
0.2 - 0.5 % RUCO-BAC AGP
(Performance standard finish)

Special case wool 1.0 - 2.0 % RUCO-BAC AGP

(Economy/performance standard finish)

liquor ratio 10 : 1

Adjust fabric pH to 4.5 – 5 with non-volatile acid, such as citric acid or RUCO-ACID ABS.

temperature 40 - 50 °C
time 15 - 30 min

Afterwards, drain without rinsing and dry at 100 - 170 °C.

The product might foam in case of high liquor turbulences, e.g. in jet dyeing machines.

Note polypropylene On textiles from 100 % polypropylene the resistance of the antibacterial effects to washing
and dry cleaning is limited due to lacking fibre function.

Industrial alkaline afterscouring

Textiles that are already finished with RUCO-BAC AGP and, amongst other things, have to
be re-dyed, undergo alkaline hot prescouring. The effect of alkali at higher temperatures in
prescouring may produce undesired colours on these fabrics to be repaired.

To avoid this, add

1 - 2 g/l VEROLAN NFE

to the alkaline scouring liquor.

This problem does not exist in home laundering at higher temperatures, because home
laundry detergents already contain a complexing agent.

LABORATORY TEST METHOD
RUCO-BAC AGP is a non-migrating, antimicrobial product. The test methods we therefore
recommend are as follows:
1. ASTM-E2149-01 (“Dynamic Shake Flask” test method)
2. AATCC 100
These tests both have a 24 h dwell time for testing the antimicrobial activity.

NOTE RUCO-BAC AGP is compatible with water/oil-repellent finishing agents. In individual cases,
the performance can be slightly affected by the one-bath use of RUCO-BAC AGP, which
can be offset by increasing the application quantity of water/oil-repellent finishing agents.

The degree of whiteness of optically brightened fabric may be reduced by the one-bath
application of RUCO-BAC AGP together with the photocatalytically active odour neutraliser
RUCO-FRESH ACS.
Preliminary trials are recommended.

In the one-bath application with RUCO-BAC AGP the individual products must be prediluted
with water to avoid agglomerations.

Stir well before use.

STORAGE The product may solidify if stored below 0 °C. After heating to 20 - 25 °C and thorough
mixing, the product can be used again without any additional measures having to be taken.
If stored above 30 °C, the product may separate or sediment. After cooling to 20 - 25 °C and
thorough mixing, the product can be used again without any problems.

The product is sensitive to light and must be protected against direct sun.
Discolouration of RUCO-BAC AGP does not affect performance.

In order to avoid quality loss, it is necessary to always close the drums after use.

ATTENTION The above recommendations are based on comprehensive studies and experience made in
practical finishing. They are, however, without liability regarding property rights of third
parties and foreign laws. The user should test for himself whether the product and the
application are suited for his very special purposes.
We are, above all, not liable for fields and methods of application which have not been put
down by us in writing.
Advice for marking regulations and protective measures can be taken from the respective
safety data sheet.
Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
