Instructions for Manual Data Extraction from

“SportsCardDatabase.com”

Overview:
The goal of this project is to extract all of the available checklist data for every year for the
following sports:

Baseball
Football
Hockey

When finished we should have 1 CSV file for each of the above sports that looks like the
following Sample File:

Instructions:
1. Create a New Excel Document
2. Navigate to ​SportsCardDatabase.com
3. Hover over Sport (eg. Baseball) and select “Browse by Sets”
4. Select the first Year from the list
5. From the list of Sets on the next page, select the first item and open in a New Tab
6. Select and Copy the entire table, including the headers
7. Paste the data into your Excel sheet
8. Repeat steps 5-8 for ALL of the Links on the Sets List (step 5) for the Year, pasting the
newly copied data below the previous set
9. Once finished with the Year, navigate back to Sports > Year and repeat for the next
year, until all years have been copied.
10. Save Excel Document as a CSV.
11. Repeat for next Sport
