What Is Microsoft Windows?

Microsoft Windows is actually a series of Operating system software produced by,
Microsoft. Its first product named Windows was introduced into the market in 1985. At that
time its only competitor was Mac OS, which is now left far behind by Windows in terms of
market share. According to a recent survey Microsoft Windows claims the 91% share of the
market.

What is Windows 7?
Windows 7 is the latest version, of the Microsoft Windows series, which was available to the
general people from October 22nd, 2009. It is an operating that can be used on personal
computers, which may includes the desktops, laptops, notebooks and tablet PCs.

Unlike its predecessor (Windows Vista), Windows 7 was introduced just to upgrade the
system in the Windows line rather than full of new features.

The Inside Story:

Originally a windows product codenamed Blackcomb was set in
line to take the reign from the hands of Windows XP (codenamed
Whistler). However, due to delays in the production of the
Blackcomb it was decided to launch a product codenamed
Longhorn first. This product when released in 2003 had most of the
features in it which were planned for Blackcomb. Then the name
Blackcomb was changed into Vienna, which was again change into Windows 7. There was
bit of confusion with the name of this latest product as some of the workers thought it should
be Windows 6.1, as it was just an upgraded version of Windows Vista. But later the name
was confirmed and set as Windows 7.

What’s new in Windows 7?

As we have learn from the inside story that Windows 7 actually was first introduced in the
form of Windows Vista and then in the latter part the upgraded version with name Windows
7 was introduced recently. So it looks reasonable to believe that this version might not carry
any new features. However, it does carry a handful of them.

Home Group: Two or more PC’s can be connected using windows 7 and this way the
hassle of sharing information on the home network is saved. It is decided by the user what
information needs to be shared and hence the issue of privacy is solved.

Jump Lists: The user can go to the most frequently used websites, documents, songs, etc.
The icon on the windows 7 taskbar needs to be right-clicked twice and the desired file is
opened.

Windows Taskbar: The windows 7 taskbar is much more user-friendly and flexible. The
cursor can be placed on the desired icon and a minimized version of the window can be
viewed.

Windows Search: The windows search option is another fast option introduced in
windows 7. Just like information is searched on the internet, any file can be found in the PC
by entering the name of a file.

Snap: The snap option can be used to resize the open windows. It is an unusual option as a
window can simply be dragged by its edge and can be resized.

Windows Live Essentials: This software can be used in windows 7 and can help in e-
mails, photo editing, etc.

Windows, still I believe these comparisons can be used easily to make one’s vision clear
about how Window 7 simply surpass its predecessors.

When will be the new version of Windows launching?

As always Microsoft will never stop at one station, Windows 8 is set on its way and will be
launching somewhere around 2012.
