2.4 Mechanical description

2.4.1 Pumping unit (item1)

Pumping unit generates and transmits mechanical movement to force the fluid to flow in the administration set
at a certain rate.
The unit consists of a motor, eccentric wheels, peristaltic fingers, and motor speed detection board, etc. Please
refer to Section “Pumping unit” in Chapter 7 for detailed information about the components for the unit.
The motor sets the eccentric wheels in motion, the eccentric wheels in turn drive the peristaltic fingers, and the
peristaltic fingers force the fluid in the administration set to move.
The motor speed is detected and monitored by a photoelectric device located at the end of the eccentric wheel
shaft and controlled by a related circuit.

2.4.2 Mechanical anti-flow clamp (item2)

Mechanical anti-flow clamp is located behind the pump door on the front case. Please refer to Section “Front
case” in Chapter 7 for detailed information about the components of the anti-flow clamp.
After the administration set is loaded on the pump properly and the pump door is closed, the anti-flow clamp is
opened, allowing the fluid in administration set to flow through; when the pump door is opened, the anti-flow clamp
is closed automatically so as to clamp the administration set and block the fluid flow.
The anti-flow clamp can be opened manually when the pump door is opened.
