GET VIOLATION SLIP, CAN YOU SLEEP?

By: Mariella Luisa Laguna

Always and forever meeting with the guidance counselor.

Code of Conduct and Discipline has been announced and discussed to all
students. They gave them enough time to tailor their uniforms, to let them wear
whatever they want. The purpose of this was to make sure the safety of the learners,
to recognize which school they are in by wearing their uniform and of course to teach
them on how to abide with the rules and regulations made by the School Governing
Council, the law-making body of the school. This policy was discussed thoroughly and
approved by the officials in the school and in the Schools Division Office of Urdaneta.

As stipulated in the Code of Conduct and Discipline, students should wear the
proper uniform. For Monday, Wednesday and Friday, students should wear the type A
(skirt, blouse with necktie and black shoes for ladies; slacks, polo shirt and black shoes
for gentlemen) whereas for Tuesday and Thursday, students should wear type B (skirt,
white t-shirt with logo and rubber shoes for ladies; pants (dark blue and black), white t-
shirt with logo and rubber shoes for gentlemen.

After the given consideration time, they announced the day where in the
students should abide with each of the code of conducts. If not, there will be
disciplinary measures to be imposed. This is a way to instill discipline among students.
In the first blast of implementation, many students followed the school rules and
regulations. But some disobey. The Supreme Student Government (SSG) gave violation
slips to students who did not follow. “Marami pa ring hindi sumusunod at nabibigyan
ng warnings”, said Sherryl Laguna, one of the SSG officers said.

For the first weeks of observing, there students who still predates the rules,
some of them says that it is hanging wet, others reason out that their uniforms are still
in the tailoring, still waiting for it. “Nainis syempre! naiisip ko pa na ang strikto naman
nila masyado”, one of the students commented. Others may not, but still there were
these complaints regarding the code of conducts who are so hard to convince upon
following those rules.

“After observing the students for about 2 months had passed you could
actually recognize how they have changed and how beautiful the school is right now”,
said Marlon Gwen Gonzales, Grade 12 student. Change in inevitable. Many opt to speak
to new policy because they will be leaving their comfort zone but those words will
vanish once they see the good impact to the community, she added.
While this student is speaking you could actually notice how happy she is
seeing how disciplined her fellow student is, on how they have changed and proved
that they can be what others want them to be. Actually, what we need in this time are
leaders who will implement policy firmly in which students will benefit.

Now why would they be scared on facing the guidance counselor? They are
now good and disciplined students. They, might visit the guidance when they only want
to greet the facilitator.
