Welcoming Parent Letter

Hello all 3rd grade families! I would like to welcome you and your child to Third Grade English
and Social Studies! There are many exciting activities and projects planned for the students in
the 2020-2021 school year. I am eager to work as a “teacher and parent team” to help make your
child’s overall learning experience a positive and challenging one!

A little about me:

I grew up in Florida and moved to Texas in 2018. I am very grateful to call Texas home now! I
went to the University of Tennessee and was a Recreational Therapist before becoming a
teacher. I love to be outdoors and am very goal driven!

Classroom Procedures:

I will have these listed in the classroom and on the classroom blog as well to go over with your
child.

1. I will listen to and follow all directions

2. I will raise my hand to share ideas.

3. I will use my hands for helping and not hurting.

Grading Scale:

Classwork/Daily Grades 70%

Assessments 30%

A = 100 - 90
B = 89 - 80
C = 79 - 70
D = 69 - 60
F = 59 and below (not passing)

Turning in Homework:

Homework will be expected to be turned in the next day the assignment was due. A late penalty
of 5 points will be taken off the assignment if not turned in by the end of the week and so on for
each week late.

Redo assignment policy:

I will give a fair opportunity to retake or redo failing work up to a 70% within the first 10 days.

Guideline to meet with me/communication:

The classroom website will have a communication portal to message me at any time and I will
respond within 24 hours of the message. I will have access to set up a parent/teacher conferenced
as I see fit as well as the parent. I will A request a conference with a student’s parents at the end
of a nine-week period if the student’s grades are not passing.
