Second Saturday Bird Walk Report

Date: Saturday, July 11, 2020
Location: Trails around Rocky River Nature Center, Rocky River Reservation,
Cleveland Metroparks, 24000 Valley Pkwy, North Olmsted, OH 44070 Map
Leaders: Bill Deininger, Dave Graskemper
Results: 7 Birders and 40 Species

Description: The July 2nd Sat bird walk started with a sprinkle of rain, but ended with the sun
shining. There were seven observers, obeying all COVID protocols. We tallied forty species.
Highlights were a Red-tailed Hawk being "mobbed" by Red-eyed Vireos, a Ruby-throated
Hummingbird and an American Redstart. The Barred Owl made an appearance. The Scarlet
Tanager posed on a tree branch. We also saw a Barn Swallow feeding 3 young. It was also a
treat for me to hear a pair of Veery's singing very close to each other. - Report by Bill Deininger.
