Q.1 Consider the equation x2 +(k+1)x+2k+2 = 0. Find the values of k for which this equa-
tion has no real roots. (3)

Q.6 A shopkeeper takes 250 hens to be sold at a super market. He sells 8% of his hens in
the first hour. In the second hour he sells 10% of those that were left.

a) How many hens has he sold in total? (2)

b) What percentage of the original number did he manage to sell in the two hours. (2)
