Finishing
1. Sew the two backing pieces together and trim to
measure 66 1/2” x 71 1/2” (168.91cm x 181.61cm).
Layer the pieced backing, batting, and quilt top.
Quilt or tie as desired. Carefully trim the backing and
batting even with the quilt top.
2. Prepare binding from six 2 1/4” x WOF (5.72cm x
WOF) Fabric I strips. Sew strips together into one
long binding strip. Press seams open. Press the strip
in half lengthwise with wrong sides together. Leaving
an 8” (20.32cm) tail of binding, sew the binding to
the top of the quilt through all layers with raw edges
matching. Miter the corners. Stop approximately 12”
(30.48cm) from where you started. Lay both loose
ends of binding flat along quilt edge. Where the loose
ends meet, fold them back on themselves and press
to form a crease. Using this crease as your stitching
line, sew the two open ends of the binding right sides
together. Trim seam to 1/4” (0.64cm) and press open.
Finish sewing binding to quilt. Turn binding to back of
quilt and blind stitch in place.
