Appliqué:
From the remaining fabric, using method of choice, cut
(1) ocotpus and (1) seahorse appliqué piece using
provided templates (on pages 5-10).

(2) 6-1/2” x WOF strips.

1. PIECED COLUMNS:

a. Arrange and sew together (8) 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles to make a pieced column in the
following order: F-G-H-C-B-D-E-A. Repeat to make a total of (10) column 1’s. Set aside.

b. Arrange and sew together (7) 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles in the following order:
G-H-C-B-D-E-A. Then, add (1) 2-1/2” x 3-1/2” F and (1) 2-1/2” x 3-1/2” B rectangles to the
opposite short ends of the strip. (Refer to the diagram below). Repeat to make a total of
(5) column 2’s. Set aside.

c. Arrange and sew together (7) 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles in the following order: F-G-H-C-B-D-E.
Then, add (1) 2-1/2” x 3-1/2” G and (1) 2-1/2” x 3-1/2” A rectangles to the opposite short ends
of the strip. (Refer to the diagram below). Repeat to make a total of (4) column 3’s.

2. QUILT CENTER:

Sew together the columns in the following order to complete the pieced portion of quilt top:

1 - 2 - 1- 3 -1 - 2 - 1- 3 - 1 - 2 - 1- 3 -1 - 2 - 1- 3 - 1 - 2 - 1

3. ADDING APPLIQUÉ:

Refer to quilt image for arranging and placing, (on cover page). Arrange the seahorse and
octopus on the pieced quilt top. Once happy with your placement, fuse (if using fusible appliqué
method), and / or stitch appliqués in place.

4. FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS:

a. With the backing fabric laying taut, place batting and then quilt top to form quilt sandwich.
Baste the layers together.

b. Quilt as desired.

c. Add D binding to finish quilt.
