Q-1a Taking sample of size 2 with replacement from a Population consisting of 1,5,7,9 elements, prove
that (i) E[μẌ] = μ ; (ii) σẌ= √(σ/n)
Q-1b The Revenue Commissioners conducted a contest for promotion. Some of the applicants who were
unsuccessful charged that the competition involved age based discrimination. Construct a 90% C. I. for
the difference between the mean age of unsuccessful applicants and the mean age of successful
applicants. Assume equal variances for the two sampled populations provided ’t’ Table value = 1.68.
Unsuccessful Participants: n= 23 ӯ = 47.0 s = 7.2
Successful Participants : n=30 ӯ = 43.9 s= 7.0
Q-2 Data on y =individuals weekly income in Rs., X1 = individuals experience in years and X2
=individuals special training weeks was on five individuals given below.
Data on Y:2,4,6,8,10; on X1:1,2,3,4,5; and on X2:1,1,2,2,3.
(i)Fit a regression line to measure the effect of individual’s special training weeks on weekly income and
interpret the results. (ii) Show that ∑ei=0 (iii) Calculate ryx1 and interpret the results.
Q- 3 Test the significance regression and correlation coefficient computed in Question-2(i).
Q- 4. Using data given in Question-2, fit a multiple regression to know the effect of individuals experience
and special training on their monthly income and interpret the results.
Q- 5. Write short notes (brevity will rewarded) on the following:
(i) The CPI as a cost of living index (ii) Time Series Analyses with Four possible components
(iii) Forecasting using Delphi, Expert Opinion and Scenario Planning Methods.
