For this, on line cleaning of heat absorbing surfaces is done by soot blowers. Cleaning the fire side not only improves heat transfer, but also clears the blocks that can restrict flow, cause tube erosion due to high local velocities and result in load limitations. SUPERSEDED DOCUMENTS: LMMVOGN/OPS/SYST/005/041, 2000 LMM/OGN/OPS/SYST/005/041, Rev 1, 2011 LMV/OGN/OPS/SYST/005/041, Rev 2, 2015, SCOPE: ‘This LMI provides guidelines regarding frequency of operating LRSB, emergency operation of LRSB, boiler parameters to be monitored before and after soot blowing and records to be maintained. FREQUENCY OF OPERATING LRSB: LRSB is to be operated as per requirements, indicated by following parameters: a) Increase in SH/RH Economizer flue gas DP by SmmWC than normal or APH inlet flue gas temperature increase by 10°C.(stage | units) b) Increase in ID fans inlet pressure or ESP inlet pressure by 1mm\WC than normal value. ©) Difference in SH/RH steam parameters (LHS/RHS) by more than 30°C d) High SH/RH tube temperature more than 580°C, even with attemperation spray. e) Ash accumulation in the furnace is also indicated by sudden fluctuation in furnace pressure. Falling of clinkers in normal unit operating conditions. 2 2) As per PADO recommendations (unit 7). Reason for non opers 4) Problems encountered while operating the LRSB. ©) Blowing steam pressure and temperature. £) Boiler gas outlet temperature at APH inlet. 2) Furnace gas DP across SH, RH coils and economizer. h) SH/RH attemperation flows. i) SH/RH metal temperature (MMT), PRECAUTIONS: Other precautions to be taken while operating LRSB are as mentioned below: of a particular blower. Its preferable to keep the concerned maintenance personnel with required tools while carrying out soot blowing operation. Its to be ensured that the moisture is properly drained and adequate Soot blowing temperature is greater than 250°C is obtained. Maintain a furnace draft at -20mmWC so as to ensure margin in ID fans to handle fluctuations in furnace pressure due to blowing and impending fall of Clinkers/slag incase. During LRSB operation, oil guns support can be taken in stagel units for flame stability while blowing gooseneck area. Correct steam pressure is maintained after puppet valve at 10Ksc. It is to be checked every three months after boiler overhaul and puppet valve is to be adjusted to get the required pressure. (Responsibility: AGM-BM-PP/AGM (0)) If the power or control supply fails, the blower supply shall be isolated from MCB in Soot blower C&I panel in case of stage 1 and Soot blower MCC in case of stage 2 and 3. Soot blower may be retracted to its initial starting position by hand cranking, only after electrical motive power is cut off. Steam supply may be reduced to value of 5 ksc. LRSB blower retraction by hand cranking is to be done to avoid damage to boiler tube and the lance of LRSB. A minimum flow at Sksc is maintained to ensure minimum cooling till such efforts are done to retract it to home position. (Responsibility: AGM-BM-PP/ SCE-Operation) Unit loads shall be maintained at rated capacity to minimize MS pressure fluctuations affecting load and flame stability. (LRSB operation shall not be carried out below 80% of unit capacity for better flame stability during operation.) (Responsibility: SCE/UCE) h) During LRSB operation, there is a possibility of falling heavy clinkers leading to furnace pressurization, the following care to be taken. 1.
