Educational Artifact: Web Launchpad Reflection

Learned: This was a very productive assignment and truly made me reflect
about the resources that I am using in my classroom. Especially, now with
so much unknown about next year and how we are going to efficiently
balance the year's curriculum in half the time. Researching and training
students to have vetted sources has never been more timely for 21st
century learners. If we are going to rely on technology to be the silver
bullet for education...then we at least need to make sure that we are using
the best. Not only using the best, but training our students on how to be
balanced, disciplined and knowledgeable when it comes to learning and
technology.

NETS-s:
1 Empowered Learner, 2 Digital Citizen, 3 Knowledge Constructor, 4
Innovative Designer, 5 Computational Thinker, 6 Creative Communicator
and 7 Global Collaborator. (all of these would be applied through the
lessons that the launchpad would provide).

Application of Skills used for the Future: This document will be shared
in the very beginning of the year as soon as chromebooks are deployed
and Google Classrooms have been set up with accounts. I anticipate
spending a portion of that day’s lesson to go over and model the resource
links, stopping to showcase some bells and whistles. To make it engaging
I would create a fun scavenger hunt that students will complete in pairs in
order to orient themselves. I could see using this as an ongoing tool that
students generate their own resources based on their classes and
interests. This could be a work in progress that students can individualize
and then share with their peers via Google Classroom.
