Rules and Tools


HOMEWORK:
♦ H.W. is assigned 3-4 times a week and the length of time should not exceed 20 min.
♦ H.W. is due the next day, you may earn partial credit if turned in late (if you are absent on the date
due, it must be turned in the next day you are present).
♦ H.W. is graded for effort and completion and is worth 5% of your math grade.
QUIZ/TEST:
♦ Retakes are offered on Quiz/Test, please be willing to ask for support/ help.
♦ Quiz/Tests are worth 30% of the grade.
♦ Anyone absent on the day of a quiz or test will make it up the next day or Focus day he/she returns
to school.
ASSESSMENT TOOLS:
♦ Quizzes, tests, classroom participation, homework, and projects.
CLASS EXPECTATIONS:
♦ Bell work is worth 5% of the math grade.
♦ Come to class well rested and ready to learn. Class work and projects are each worth 30% of the
math grade.
♦ Be prepared with textbook, pencil, notebook/binder, planner, and homework.
♦ Settle down quickly and quietly so that the learning of others is not interrupted.
♦ ASK QUESTIONS, VOLUNTEER ANSWERS, and TAKE RISKS and be willing to
CELEBRATE MISTAKES, yours and mine/ours.
As your child’s teacher, some of my goals for this year are to help them
♦ Learn through explorations, trial and error, and verbal and written communication.
♦ Write clear, articulate, mathematical statements.
♦ Develop logical skills, and make connections that will be beneficial in solving real-world math
problems.
♦ Grow confidence in their own learning process.
COMMUNICATION:
❖ Ms.Hedge: 572-6441 Room 125, victoria.hedge@schoolsofwestfield.org
❖ Help Hours​ on Thursdays from 2:35-3:20 pm.
❖ Other after school/ before school times available by appointment.
❖ After 4:00 pm daily, my homework page will have assignments at: ​http://wis.schoolsofwestfield.org​. on the
teacher webpage.
❖ You should always hear from me within 24-48 hours of your initial communication to me, if not, please
choose another method of communication. Letters from home are most likely to reach me the day you send
it in with your child, and are usually responded to within 24 hours, as long as I receive them. Please leave
your name, your child’s name, and a number where I can reach you between 7am and 3pm.

Please sign the bottom portion stating that you have read this with your child. Detach and turn
in. Please keep the top portion in order to look back at during the school year.
