Why Banking & Finance?

Some facts on the Swiss financial sector:


• More than 300 Banks, 200 insurance companies, 3000 endowments
(Pensionskassen) and a lot of finance departments within companies.
• The Swiss banking system has a contribution of CHF 35.9 bn to GDP,
which represents a share of 6.7% of GDP.
• The corresponding value for the insurance sector represents an added
value of CHF 23.2 bn respectively 4.3% of GDP.

Work force im Swiss Financial System

200‘000 people work in the financial sector which represents 6% of the


Swiss labour force.
• 107'500 in banking sector,
• 28‘400 in other financial companies (independent wealth managers
etc.),
• 64‘000 in insurance sector.

Furthermore Swiss banks employ more than 102’800 employees abroad.
