How can we protect the environment?

By Aligning Individual goals with Environmental goals.

These are the pictures from one of the water scarce part of Maharashtra (India).

What do you see?

Water wastage due to overflow. We might think that owner might not have system to know
when the tank is full to such avoid wastage.

But story here is different.

This home doesn't have access to municipality water supply system.

They have to buy water on regular basis from neighborhood guy who have groundwater
tube.

The guy with the water tube charges flat amount of Rs 50 for 30 minutes of water supply.

Now sometimes it happens that they don't need water for all 30 minutes as the tanks shown in
picture get refilled within say 20 minutes.

But as there are flat charges the home owner doesn't have any incentives to ask water seller
to stop the pump. Also home owner has fear that from next time this water seller starts charging
Rs 50 for 20 minutes.
So sometimes water gets wasted for roughly 10 minutes.

This is very bad to environment because-

1. It leads to direct depletion of groundwater level

2. It leads to loss of electricity required to run pump (again this electricity requires water
for it's generation).
Believe me these people are educated and have knowledge of environmental issues.

But they are not able align their acts with that of environment protecting acts.

Just imagine how many such cases would be their and what would be their impact on the
environment.
