ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this study was to find out the effect of rice farming to the

farmers of Alabat, Quezon. Specifically, the study determined the effects in financial and

health status of the farmers. It exposed the positive and negative effects in planting rice.

Based on the result of the study, rice farming help the farmers in their financial and

health status.It helps to lessen the expenses in buying foods for their families. The

farmers can able to provide the needs of their family in terms to education and health

because of the help of rice-farming. It also helps to increase the income of the family. In

terms of health status, planting and harvesting rice helps them and their families to avoid

malnutrition and they were able to gain strength and maintain their healthy bodies. But

the result shows that using pesticides in planting rice brings negative effects to the

farmers.

T-test and ANOVA results proved that sex and civil status is no significant

difference to the effects of rice-farming to the farmers in Alabat, Quezon.

It is recommended that future researchers may use other instruments adopt different

frameworks and methodology of measuring the effects of rice-farming to the farmers.

Other researchers may study the effects of pesticide to the farmers and give an alternative

solution to the negative effects of such.
