The benefit from this expertise is Dynapac original shock
absorbers. The shock absorbers on a roller protect the
machine by acting as a flexible connection between the drum
of roller structure. The shock absorbers are designed to isolate
the vibrations of the drum that can cause damage to both
roller and operator. During the design phase of new products,
these are tested and validated in laboratory and field test.
A shock absorber that is to stiff might last long but transfers
dangerous vibrations into the machine and it will cause
shorter life on all components of the machine.

Dynapac specifically designed shock absorbers to meet
high quality standards. The final compaction performance
is dependent on the condition and stiffness of the shock
absorbers. Our shock absorbers are made of high-strength
bonds and compounded elastomers. They provide the
required stiffness to meet our high requirements for all
Dynapac rollers. Cracks in the rubber elements are indicators
that it is time to replace the shock absorbers. Make sure that
you replace all shock absorbers on both sides of the drum at
the same time. This is important because new shock absorbers
are stiffer than used ones.

HOW TO CHECK THE SHOCK ABSORBERS

Follow our maintenance instructions for replacement of shock absorbers. We propose to make an inspection to see if there is a
development of crack.

Check all rubber elements (1), replace all of the elements if

more than 25% of them on one side of the drum are cracked
deeper than 10-15 mm (0.4-0.6 in).

(2) Check using a knife blade or pointed object.

Check also that the screw fasteners (2) are tightened.
