1. Carefully read the given below and answer the question that follow. 30

As the first electronic media of Nepal, XYZ Corporation was established in 2041B.S. Its slogan was
“Communication for Development”. After establishment it has made important contribution to the
development of education, infrastructure and socio-cultural sector in the country. Currently with 4
channels it has reach up to 117 countries with satellite. Within the country it has reach of 75% of area and
52% of total population with terrestrial technology. Its 400 staffs are experienced and trained compare to
private sector.
Up to 2 decade it has enjoyed the monopoly market. Private sector has also started to invest in television
sector and hence its quality of program and news was challenged. It is losing viewers especially from
urban areas. Similarly with the introduction of DTH technology it is receiving the challenge in rural areas
also.
Political interference, poor management and lack of professional culture affected the organization. Trade
union is also concentrated on union member’s interest, instead of organization and professional benefits.
It is pressurizing on organization’s daily activity and decision making process. There is a lack of
accountability and responsibility. Management has not made any long term or short term business plan.
Due to this its loss is increasing year by year.
Government has appointed Mr. A as the General Manager of the organization by free competition. Mr. A
is working as the senior officer in the corporation before taking the responsibility of GM. This
appointment was not liked by the other senior managers and personnel’s. They did not support to new
GM. After 9 months GM handed over one of his client to police for presenting fake bank guarantee of 90
million rupees. Trade Union claimed that GM was also involved in the case and demanded the resignation
of GM. GM says he is innocent and did not involve in the case. He suspended 4 persons of marketing
department for finding the truth. Instead of this union has blocked the entry of GM in the office premises.

a) Analyze the problems and issues related in the above case of XYZ Company.
b) Why new GM has faced the challenge of handling the organization?
c) As the adviser to GM how are you going to solve this issue?
