PREFACE

Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of the methods applied

to a field of study. It comprises the theoretical analysis of the body of

methods and principles associated with a branch of knowledge. Typically, it

encompasses concepts such as paradigm, theoretical model, phases and

quantitative or qualitative techniques.[1]

A methodology does not set out to provide solutions - it is, therefore, not the

same as a method. Instead, a methodology offers the theoretical

underpinning for understanding which method, set of methods, or best

practices can be applied to specific case, for example, to calculate a specific

result.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Investment is a term with several closely related meanings in finance and

economics. It refers to the accumulation of some kind of asset in hopes of

getting a future return from it.

Money that is invested with an expectation of profit So this topic provides

all the essential to theoretical knowledge and to inculcate the efficiency. It is

also requirement for the company to improve their service and quality for

achieving their ultimate goal.

INTRODUCTION
Methodology

Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of the methods applied

to a field of study. It comprises the theoretical analysis of the body of

methods and principles associated with a branch of knowledge. Typically, it

encompasses concepts such as paradigm, theoretical model, phases and

quantitative or qualitative techniques.

A methodology does not set out to provide solutions - it is, therefore, not the

same as a method. Instead, a methodology offers the theoretical

underpinning for understanding which method, set of methods, or best

practices can be applied to specific case, for example, to calculate a specific

result.

It has been defined also as follows:

1. "the analysis of the principles of methods, rules, and postulates

employed by a discipline";

2. "the systematic study of methods that are, can be, or have been

applied within a discipline";

3. "the study or description of methods".


Methods of Research

There are two approaches to conduct a research:

 Qualitative Approach- In Qualitative approach, the researcher

analyzes the objective and study it on the basis of a previous case study

or a grounded theory. Usually in routine business scenarios, this

approach is used. Some of the most popular qualitative research methods

are Ethnographic, grounded theory, biological, case study, and

phenomenological.

 Quantitative Approach- On the other hand, this approach adopts

experimental and computational methods. The conclusion is derived after

following the rigorous process of observation made from

experimentation performed on the object. Some of the most important

quantitative techniques are inferential, simulation and experimental.

Relationship between methodology, theory, paradigm, algorithm, and

method

The methodology is the general research strategy that outlines the way in

which research is to be undertaken and, among other things, identifies the

methods to be used in it. Thesemethods, described in the methodology,


define the means or modes of data collection or, sometimes, how a specific

result is to be calculated.[4] Methodology does not define specific methods,

even though much attention is given to the nature and kinds of processes to

be followed in a particular procedure or to attain an objective.

When proper to a study of methodology, such processes constitute

a constructive generic framework, and may therefore be broken down into

sub-processes, combined, or their sequence changed.

A paradigm is similar to a methodology in that it is also a constructive

framework. In theoretical work, the development of paradigms satisfies most

or all of the criteria for methodology. An algorithm, like a paradigm, is also

a type of constructive framework, meaning that the construction is a logical,

rather than a physical, array of connected elements.

Any description of a means of calculation of a specific result is always a

description of a method and never a description of a methodology. It is thus

important to avoid usingmethodology as a synonym for method or body of

methods. Doing this shifts it away from its true epistemological meaning and

reduces it to being the procedure itself, or the set of tools, or the instruments

that should have been its outcome. A methodology is the design process for

carrying out research or the development of a procedure and is not in itself

an instrument, or method, or procedure for doing things.


Methodology and method are not interchangeable. In recent years however,

there has been a tendency to use methodology as a "pretentious substitute for

the word method". Using methodology as a synonym for method or set of

methods leads to confusion and misinterpretation and undermines the proper

analysis that should go into designing research

V Mahesh is a graduate in BA - Corporate

Secretaryship from University of Madras. He also

holds a Post Graduate degree in Commerce from

University of Madras (M.Com) and a Post Graduate

Diploma in Computer Applications. He has work

experience spanning over 2 decades and has in

depth exposure to operations on most financial

services businesses. Commencing his professional


stint with the Registry business where he has to his

credit managing over 300 IPOs and other forms of

offerings, he was amongst the first few to work

closely on the Book Building process initiated by

SEBI in 1995. After initially working with MCS as

an Assistant Vice President, he moved to Karvy and

is presently designated as the Managing Director of

Karvy Data Management Services Ltd.

At Karvy, after an in depth exposure in registry

operations he was made responsible to initiate the

process of setting up the Depository participant

business. Mr. V. Mahesh has been nominated by the

NSDL to various committees which addressed key

V Ganesh has over 22 years of experience in the

Gamble providing product pricing and financial

support before moving on to a challenging stint with

The report is the result of a survey which was undertaken in Lucknow city.

The objectives of the project has been fulfilled by getting response from the

customer associated to these segments through a personal interview in the

form of a questionnaire. The responses available through the questionnaire

are used to evaluate the brand loyalty for the products of Tata motors and

the willingness of the customer to purchase its products on future.

The project also covers an analysis of the switch over of customers to

competitors products in the market.

CONCLUSION

Through out the project work I have tried to my extent to learn more

and more so that I enable myself to deliver the best services from my part. I

always focused my services to full satisfaction whether it would for

employer or for customer. So during this practical learning process whatever

I have realized conclusion of the company is as follows:

 Many years ago people used to hold money means that they kept their

money as cash in hand or other safe places

 But today people are more aware of different investment option,

which are the key of growth of money

 Instead of a range of investment alternative salaried employees prefer

to take medium risk and they will invest their money in mutual fund

and life insurance.

 People invest their savings in a trust not in a company. So investors

trust should be maintained and developed by delivering best and safe

services.

 The objective of the investment for mutual fund should be capital

growth and fund should be invested in equities.

 Equity schemes of Mutual Fund are the most preferred amongst

investors as they give high returns over the other schemes.


 Open ended scheme is highly preferred amongst customers as there

may be reasons for redemption of unit at any period of time.

 Performance of post office saving, life insurance, fixed deposit,

mutual should be focused on by providing necessary facts figures,

award & other achievement of the trust.

 Investors got their expected returns from the investment they have

make already and thus it widen the scope of investment further.

1) There is a large scope of investment to their invest in especially in

2) There is need to have more promotional activities from the very grass

root level such as installing canopy, advertising through print &

3) Tapping the up coming market Urban Market as there is a lot of

opportunity. Most of the institutions are operating in the metros and big

cities as per their present branch office locations. If they have to

increase their market size they have to open more distribution centers at

the various urban and semi-urban markets.

4) Informative types of advertising are required and also preferably

through print media, because concerned services requires lots of

explanations.

5) Premium and economical class of services should be launched by the

company to serve the varied nature of customers.

6) Service cum awareness camps should be run by the company in remote

areas.

7) Improvement in services through feedbacks from customers is

recommended.

LIMITATION

Though, best efforts have been made to make the study fair,

transparent and error free. But there might be some inevitable and inherent

limitations. Though outright measure are undertaken to make the report most

accurate.

The limitation of the survey are narrated below:

 The project is valid for Lucnow city only.

 It was not possible to cover each and every respondent due to time

constrains.

 There may be some biased response form the respondents

 Some respondents did not provide the full data.

 Unwillingness on the part of the customers to disclose the information

as per the questionnaire.

 The decisiveness on the part of the customers regarding some question

hence difficulty faced in recording and analyzing the data.
