CivilCAD

Road design on CivilCAD is divided into four steps;

i. Horizontal Alignment – HA
ii. Vertical Alignment – VA
iii. Cross sections
iv. Earthwork Quantities

HA

- This where the road coordinates are plotted


- Arrange your data(coordinates) in CSV format on spread sheet starting with description,
Eastings, Northings and Elevation respectfully as shown below

Loading the Coordinates
- After arranging the data as earlier mentioned, save the spread sheet.
- Then on CivilCAD go to Topography – Coordinates and click on coordinates

- Then click on the “Load from text file” which will open another window to allow you search for
the spreadsheet you had saved earlier

- After selecting the spread sheet as shown below, click open and the coordinates will be shown
on the CivilCAD

- Click on the “Refresh” button and the coordinates will be plotted on CivilCAD
- Join the plotted data using a poly line.
- On the HA window pick and click on the “select” option and then right click on the drawing
window then click on the polyline then press enter button. This will give you the IP points. Press
Apply
- To change to desired format click on the option button

- We are through with HA, save the drawing and we start on the VA
