Dos/Don’ts for the SAQs

DO write darkly and neatly (I can’t grade what I can’t read)
DO write any information you’re not positive is correct as a separate sentence
DO qualify your dates/guesses (ca. 1200, 1300s, early 1750s, many, some, etc.)
DON’T erase answers, just cross them out (this saves time)
DON’T start writing without planning first

You will have 40 minutes to write a response to 3 SAQs, each with 2-3 parts. Do your best and keep an eye on the timer. You’ve got this!

3. A. Describe ONE cause of the Neolithic Revolution.
B. Explain ONE way the Neolithic Revolution contributed to the development of
civilization before ca. 1200 CE.
A. One cause of the Neolithic Revolution was the availability of grains. Plants like wheat,
barley, and corn grew in the wild in places with fertile soil, and early humans began to rely
on them for food. Because they knew that they could eat these foods, humans decided to
begin farming to grow these crops in larger quantities to make life easier for them, which
led to the development of the Neolithic Revolution.
B. One way the Neolithic Revolution contributed to the development of civilizations
before ca.1200 CE was with division of labor. When humans began to farm during the
Neolithic Revolution, they were able to grow enough food that not everyone had to have
the same job, so more people were able to do other work that supplied the community with
what it needed. This contributed to the development of civilization because some people
created governments, art, technology, and education, which became important foundations
for later civilizations.
